Position Overview:
The Business Development Analyst will directly support the market analysis required by the BD Organization based in Houston, TX and the future locations in Latin America. The Scope of the job includes crude, products, petrochemicals and industrial products mainly in Latin America to help identify the business opportunities to support the trading strategy of the different commodity desks at ATA. The Business Development Analyst will also be part of the global market analysis practice led by ATC. This role will be part of the Trading Development & Growth Market Analysis Team.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor global and regional market trends, including supply/demand dynamics, geopolitical developments, regulatory changes, and pricing fluctuations.
- Develop and maintain detailed market reports, forecasts, and presentations to support business development and trading strategies.
- Support strategic decision-making through data-driven analysis, financial modeling and competitive intelligence.
- Assist in preparation of business cases, project proposals, and investment opportunities.
- Track competitor activities, market share, product flows and customer trends to provide actionable recommendations for growth.
- Build and maintain supply/demand models to understand market balances.
- Build, maintain, and leverage models, along with a deep knowledge of various market factors, to formulate a point-of-view and identify signposts/risks.
- Serve as a key member of the Market Analysis local and global Team in ensuring open communication of market fundamentals across the business development organization, the trading floor and broader organization.
- Coordinate with analysts globally to ensure continuity across regions and products.
- Provide commercial value for the trading teams.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, statistics or mathematics.
- 3+ years of market analytics experience.
- Strong understanding of refining economics (cracks, spreads, etc.).
- Be familiar with an LP application to model refinery economics and optimization.
- Prior experience successfully working in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with advanced analytical tools/coding languages, AI, Data mining and analytics.
Must be able to work in an office environment located in downtown Houston, TX
