recruiting on behalf of a reputable company seeking a competent and
detail-oriented Business Developer/Tendering Specialist responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the oil and gas industry. The role involves driving business growth by sourcing tender opportunities, preparing competitive bids and proposals, building strong client relationships, and achieving sales and revenue targets. The successful candidate will work closely with technical, commercial, and operations teams to develop winning strategies and ensure the successful acquisition of new contracts.
The ideal candidate
will be responsible for managing the end-to-end tendering process for oil and
gas projects. This includes reviewing tender documents, preparing technical and
commercial proposals, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, estimating project
costs, assessing risks, and submitting competitive bids that align with company
objectives and client requirements
Key
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas sectors.
- Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve company growth objectives.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging opportunities and industry trends.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients and projects.
- Promote the company's products and services to existing and potential clients.
- Source, monitor, and evaluate tender opportunities from government agencies, international oil companies (IOCs), national oil companies (NOCs), EPC contractors, and private sector clients.
- Coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of Expressions of Interest (EOIs), Pre-qualification Documents, Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), and Invitations to Tender (ITTs).
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, finance, and operations teams to develop competitive technical and commercial proposals.
- Ensure all bid submissions comply with client specifications, contractual requirements, and submission deadlines.
- Participate in bid clarification meetings and commercial negotiations with clients.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, partners, and industry decision-makers.
- Conduct regular client visits to identify new opportunities and strengthen business partnerships.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication and responsive service delivery.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, exhibitions, networking events, and client meetings.
- Achieve assigned sales, contract award, and revenue targets.
- Negotiate commercial terms and conditions to secure profitable contracts.
- Develop sales forecasts, budgets, and business development reports.
- Monitor contract performance and identify opportunities for repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Prepare periodic business development reports, sales forecasts, and pipeline updates for management.
- Analyze market conditions and recommend strategies to improve competitiveness and increase market share.
- Support the development of annual business plans and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, business opportunities, and contract status using CRM systems.
RequirementsQualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- A master's degree (MBA) is an added advantage.
- Professional certifications in Business Development, Sales, Project Management, or Contract Management are desirable.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of business development, sales, or commercial experience within the oil and gas industry.
- Demonstrated success in securing contracts through competitive tendering and bidding processes.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, oilfield service companies, or upstream, midstream, or downstream operators.
- Established network within the oil and gas industry is an advantage.
