Business Controlling Officer

Working in the Finance circle

As a Business Controlling Officer, you will be at the heart of the B2B business, helping management understand performance, evaluate opportunities, and make informed decisions. This role offers broad exposure to commercial, operational and financial topics, making it an excellent stepping stone towards a future career in controlling, finance business partnering or strategy. This includes.:

• Contribute to the monthly financial close, including variance analyses
• Analyses of KPIs /OKRs
• Product and business analyses
• Budgeting and forecast updates
• Financial assistance with contract negotiations

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop into a Business Controller or Finance Business Partner through exposure to senior stakeholders, strategic projects, budgeting, forecasting and business decision-making

Your main responsibilities as our Business Controlling Officer

• Ensure the correct content of the budgets and forecasts in collaboration with the business partners
• Responsible for all operational activities, coordination & follow up on the monthly closing for your assigned sub-department, working closely with your supervisor/colleagues
• Preparing monthly reporting (explaining variances versus budget/forecast, following up on key KPIs, operational analysis, ...) for: 
  • Finance as input for the closing meeting with all controllers and FP&A team
  • The business to be able to advise the budget owners around the efficiency of his/her activities and processes as well as around cash flow optimization
• Supervise compliance with (financial) procedures on purchasing, ordering, opex/capex split, ... partly through approval of POs/invoices
• Preparing and maintaining spreadsheet models for specific analyses, closing activities, ...
• Support investment decisions by analysing business cases and challenging assumptions to ensure sound financial outcomes.
• Act as a trusted finance contact for business stakeholders, supporting them with analyses, recommendations and ad hoc decision support.
   

Our ideal Business Controlling Officer has…

• an affinity for the B2B Telco and ICT market
• You have a Master's degree in an economics or engineering discipline complemented by a finance degree or equivalent through experience
• Strong intellectual curiosity and eagerness to understand how a business creates value.
• We are looking for someone with strong analytical curiosity, a willingness to learn, and the ambition to grow into a broader finance business partnering role. 
• You can work independently and are hands-on
• You are accurate with numbers, you have good synthetic and analytical skills
• You are a team player
• You are discrete, flexible and feel at home in a rapidly changing business environment, but don't shy away from more routine tasks either
• You have a strong knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint and affinity with financial systems (accounting, reporting)
• Curious and ambitious, eager to grow at the same pace as the business.
• Good  verbal, and PowerPoint communication skills. Able to articulate and communicate with impact to various levels of stakeholders
• Languages: professional proficiency in English is a must; Dutch and French are a plus
