How You Will Contribute:
- Collaborate with functional area leaders from Information Technology, Cyber Security, Engineering, and Incident Response teams to develop, maintain, and enhance business continuity plans and procedures.
- Design, coordinate, and execute business continuity exercises and tests involving critical internal functions, partners, and vendors; analyze outcomes, document results, and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Drive continual improvements into continuity processes and plans through exercises, audits, lessons learned, organizational changes, stakeholder collaboration, and training.
- Align business continuity plans with disaster recovery and cyber incident response capabilities by working closely with Information Security, IT, and R&D teams.
- Lead annual Business Continuity Planning (BCP) activities, including updating Business Impact Analyses (BIA), Business Recovery Plans (BRP), and risk assessments to reflect current business priorities.
- Develop and maintain program documents such as procedures, plans, and work instructions while ensuring alignment with industry standards like ISO 22301.
- Deliver training and awareness programs to empower employees with knowledge of their roles in continuity and recovery efforts.
The Must Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Project Management, or a related field.
- 7 years of progressive experience in Business Continuity, including 3-5 years of hands-on experience working in complex, fast-paced technology environments with a focus on IT systems, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery.
- Proven experience writing, designing and executing tests such as tabletop exercises, functional recovery tests, and full-scale simulations.
- Experience in process mapping and workflow analysis, including the ability to analyze business processes, identify dependencies and risk
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 22301, including experience auditing and assessing compliance with the standard.
- Certification from Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII), Business Continuity Institute (BCI), or equivalent professional certification.
- Familiarity with BCP planning tools (e.g., Everbridge, Sustainable Planner, Fusion).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Nice to Haves:
- Lead ISO 22301 Auditor Certification.
- Experience developing and maintaining a Health & Safety Management System (ISO 45001) integrated with a Business Continuity Management System.
- Technical knowledge of IT systems, including hardware, software, network components, and cloud computing concepts.
- Cybersecurity awareness, including familiarity with risks such as malware, phishing, and social engineering.
- Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience in process mapping and workflow analysis to identify dependencies and risks.
- Ability to travel internationally up to 10%.

The salary range for this role in Canada is $95, 500 - $152, 500
The salary range for this role in the USA is $107, 800 - $172, 200
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
