Job Description: Business Applications Analyst

Reports To: VP of Technology (functional reporting may align to Business Applications Lead, as applicable)

Location & Remote Work: This role is based at our corporate office. In-office presence is expected for stakeholder collaboration and assistance through critical project phases (e.g., testing and go-live). Fully remote work is not available for this position.

Position Summary

The Business Applications Analyst supports business stakeholders and IT in understanding business processes, documenting requirements, and helping deliver and support enterprise applications. This role assists with day-to-day application support, participates in testing and go-live activities, and contributes to continuous improvement through documentation and end-user support while building deeper application and business process expertise over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with business stakeholders and IT to understand needs, clarify requests, and document objectives and scope.

  • Document current-state processes and assist with mapping future-state processes; flag gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Gather, organize, and document business requirements; help translate requirements into functional specifications for review.

  • Support testing activities by preparing test cases, executing tests, logging defects, and assisting with user acceptance testing (UAT).

  • Assist with go-live, upgrades, and ongoing support by coordinating tasks, communicating updates, and helping resolve issues.

  • Perform basic application administration and configuration tasks (as assigned) and follow documented procedures for recurring activities.

  • Triage support requests, perform initial troubleshooting, and escalate complex issues with clear notes, steps to reproduce, and impact.

  • Create and update user guides, quick references, and support documentation; keep procedures current as changes occur.

  • Provide day-to-day end-user support and assist with training sessions; serve as a point of contact for assigned application areas.

  • Support process improvement efforts by capturing feedback, suggesting enhancements, and helping implement approved changes.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail; ability to collect, organize, analyze, and communicate information effectively.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills for issue triage, troubleshooting, and resolution.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work across diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Process-oriented mindset with experience documenting workflows, requirements, and procedures.

  • Experience working in a project-oriented environment; ability to manage multiple priorities and drive issues to conclusion.

  • Understanding of quality assurance concepts and testing practices (including UAT).

  • Basic understanding of relational databases and reporting; ability to learn and use SQL queries to validate data and support analysis.

Preferred Qualifications / Technology Experience

  • Experience with enterprise platforms such as JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE E1), OnBase (Hyland), and/or Procede Excede or other DMS.

  • Experience supporting integrated application ecosystems (APIs, reporting, or other system-to-system integrations).

  • Exposure to troubleshooting practices (e.g., documenting issues, basic root-cause analysis, incident/problem/change processes).

  • Project management experience is a plus.

  • Experience in operations, manufacturing, assembly, or dealership/service environments.

Work Environment & Travel

Periodic travel may be required, particularly during implementations (up to ~25%).

Physical Requirements: Primarily sedentary; prolonged sitting/standing and computer use.
