Business Analyst

Location : Auckland or Wellington

Description

We are looking for someone with experience in designing and delivering business and technical solutions that enable effective outcomes across client and internal initiatives. This role operates as a key liaison between clients and internal stakeholders, requiring strong communication, responsiveness and collaboration to align business goals and delivery outcomes. Acting as a bridge between business and technical teams, the BA is responsible for gathering and documenting requirements, facilitating communication, and ensuring solutions are designed, tested and implemented to meet client and organisational needs.

Job specification

  • Partner with clients to understand business needs and manage expectations.

  • Elicit and document business and functional requirements through structured workshops, stakeholder interviews, and analysis.

  • Produce clear, fit-for-purpose documentation including, business requirements, test plans, impact assessments, and incident reporting.

  • Define and map data exchange structures (e.g., flat files, specifications).

  • Collaborate with technical teams to support setup and integration of data and platform interfaces

  • Triage and manage client requests in alignment with the Apex client service desk SLA framework

  • Design and lead testing activities including defect management and sign-off.

  • Prepare transition and training documentation to support operational readiness.

  • Work with business and delivery teams to validate scope, manage changes, and ensure traceability.

  • Support go-live planning, hypercare phases and post-implementation activities.

  • Contribute to environment configuration for testing, UAT and production readiness.

  • Coordinate end-to-end fund launches, including platform configuration, testing, and operational handover.

  • Provide estimation and input into Statements of Work (SoWs), defining scope, and effort, ensuring commercial alignment with clients.

  • Align solutions with platform capabilities and support a single-source-of-truth architecture.

Skills Required:

  • 3–5+ years experience as a Business Analyst in financial services or fund administration.

  • Strong client engagement, communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proven ability to produce high-quality business requirements and process documentation.

  • Familiarity with industry frameworks and methodologies including IIBA business analysis standards and agile delivery approaches such as SAFe, Scrum, Kanban

  • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar work tracking tools.

  • Previous involvement in platform transitions or transformation programmes.

  • Experience working across multiple delivery teams in fast-paced, regulated environments.

  • Knowledge of fund administration platforms, operational integration, and single-source data models.

  • Understand SQL and VBA concepts with the ability to develop and run basic queries to extract data

  • Proficient in creating business process maps and workflow diagrams using standard modelling techniques (eg. BPMN) and tools such as Lucidchart or Microsoft Visio

  • Strong understanding of data exchange protocols (e.g., SFTP, CSV) and flat file structures.

  • Experience in test planning, test execution and defect management to ensure solution quality and validation against business requirements

  • Experience in agile and hybrid delivery environments.

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business language.

  • Understanding of API-driven architecture, testing, and validation.

  • Ability to manage workload independently while contributing to team initiatives.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel essential).
