Ready to make a real impact on Auckland’s future? We’re on the lookout for a skilled and driven Business Analyst to join our Digital team in Newmarket.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of business analysis across meaningful digital initiatives—shaping solutions that genuinely improve how we serve our communities. You’ll partner with stakeholders across Watercare, uncovering opportunities, translating complex needs into clear requirements, and helping deliver outcomes that matter.
Working across Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid environments, you’ll lead engaging workshops, craft high-quality documentation, and play a key role in solution design and change adoption. This is your chance to work end‑to‑end, influence decisions, and see your work come to life.

In this role, you will:
- Lead end‑to‑end business analysis across projects and workstreams, driving clarity and direction
- Uncover, analyse, and articulate business needs, challenges, and opportunities
- Facilitate dynamic workshops and collaborative sessions that bring ideas to life
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements and user stories
- Create process maps and visual models (BPMN) to support informed decision-making
- Partner closely with technical teams to ensure solutions are practical, effective, and aligned
- Contribute to solution design discussions, bringing a strong business lens
- Build strong, trusted relationships across business and technical teams
- Communicate insights and progress with clarity, confidence, and impact
- Support change initiatives including communication, training, and transition activities
- Produce high-quality documentation aligned to Watercare standards and best practice
- Manage artefacts in Confluence, track delivery in Jira, and create models in Lucid
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve business analysis practices
Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | About you
You’re a proactive and confident Business Analyst who enjoys taking ownership while working collaboratively with others. You’re naturally curious, a strong communicator, and passionate about delivering outcomes that make a difference.
You’ll bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
- 3+ years’ experience in a Business Analyst role
- Proven experience working in Agile and/or hybrid environments
- Strong skills in requirements gathering, analysis, and facilitation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to balance competing priorities and deliver high-quality results
- A professional, collaborative, and values-driven approach
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience in digital transformation or technology-led initiatives
- Background in public sector or complex enterprise environments
- Relevant certifications (e.g. IIBA CCBA, Agile Practitioner)
- A passion for digital innovation and creating real business value
