We are more than a securities exchange!

The ASX team brings together talented people from a diverse range of disciplines.

We run critical market infrastructure, with 1 in 3 people employed within technology.  Yet we have a unique complexity of roles across a range of disciplines such as operations, program delivery, financial products, investor engagement, risk and compliance.

We’re proud to foster a workplace where diversity is celebrated and inclusion is part of our everyday culture. Our employee-led networks champion LGBTIQ+ inclusion, promote gender equality, accessibility and wellbeing, inspire giving and volunteering, and celebrate cultural and religious events, creating a sense of belonging for all. As an AWEI Bronze employer and member of the Champions of Change Coalition for gender equality, we’re committed to a fair and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.

What we do matters. How we do it matters too. At ASX, data is a critical enabler of how the organisation operates, serves its customers and evolves over time. Our Data Platforms area underpins this by providing foundational data capabilities that are used and extended across the organisation.

We are looking for a Business Analyst – Data to join our Data Platforms team and help shape how the organisation changes through data. This role is primarily platform‑focused, supporting the continuous evolution and improvement of data capabilities, while also contributing to specific initiatives and projects where needed. You will work alongside engineers, architects and stakeholders to ensure data solutions are scalable, reusable and aligned to both current and emerging needs.

This role suits a Business Analyst who thinks beyond one‑off delivery and enjoys understanding how data platforms enable better customer outcomes, more informed decision‑making and consistent ways of working. You’ll bring a strong customer lens, recognising that improvements to data platforms and data initiatives ultimately influence service quality, reliability and experience for those who depend on them.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging internal stakeholders to understand business problems, platform needs and project‑based requirements, and to elicit business, data, system and operational requirements

  • Working closely with engineers, architects and subject matter experts within the Data Platforms area to shape and evolve data‑driven capabilities

  • Producing clear, high‑quality requirements artefacts such as epics, features, user stories and acceptance criteria that support both continuous delivery and project delivery

  • Analysing current‑state processes and data flows, and designing future‑state processes, models and solution options

  • Conducting impact assessments across business processes, data, downstream systems and reporting to support prioritisation and decision‑making

  • Supporting delivery leads with managing dependencies, understanding constraints and sequencing work across platform and project initiatives

  • Liaising with vendors and delivery teams on progress, dependencies, problem resolution and solution design

  • Producing business analysis deliverables that provide clarity and enable confident delivery across platform and project work

Your experience and qualifications

Must have

  • 3+ years’ experience in Business Analysis or a strongly comparable analytical role

  • Experience working across the full SDLC, with an understanding of both project delivery and ongoing product or platform evolution

  • Demonstrated experience working on data‑focused initiatives, platforms or products

  • Exposure to AWS data platforms or cloud‑based data solutions

  • Strong understanding of Business Intelligence and analytics concepts

  • Technical literacy, including familiarity with SQL and working with structured data

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate complex data or technical concepts into clear, practical business language

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with confidence working across different levels of seniority

  • Experience with business process modelling and requirements techniques (e.g. BPMN, UML)

  • Ability to balance platform‑level thinking with attention to detail

  • Adaptability, emotional intelligence and a growth mindset, with comfort operating in evolving environments

Nice to have

  • Experience with ETL processes, data pipelines or data integration patterns

  • Experience with middleware and/or API integrations

  • Familiarity with Data Mesh concepts and ways of working

  • Experience using Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Confluence

  • Experience with modelling tools such as Visio, Lucid or Enterprise Architect

  • Experience working in Agile or product‑led delivery environments

  • Experience working in platform teams with some project‑based delivery

  • Financial services experience (beneficial but not essential)

We make hiring decisions based on your skills, capabilities and experience, and how you’ll help us to live our values. We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all the criteria of this role.

If you need any adjustments during the application or interview process to help you present your best self, please let us know at [email protected].

At ASX Group, our diverse workforce is essential to build and maintain a fair and dynamic marketplace. We support flexible working and offer hybrid working options. Even if our roles are advertised as full-time, we encourage you to apply if you are interested in part-time or other flexible working arrangements.

We will arrange for successful candidates to have background checks, including reference and police checks, completed as part of the on-boarding process.

To be considered for this position, candidates must be legally authorised to work in Australia on a permanent basis without any restrictions.
