Location: Richmond, VA 
Position Type: Hybrid
Hybrid/Onsite Schedule: 3 days onsite
Contract Length: 2 months
Position Overview:
Seeking a highly experienced Business Analyst with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work independently. This role involves gathering and documenting business needs, serving as the voice of the customer, and supporting both Agile and Waterfall methodologies throughout the software development lifecycle.
Duties:

  • Serve as the voice of the customer by collaborating with IT project teams and business stakeholders to understand processes, challenges, and needs.

  • Develop expertise in business applications and data management concepts, advocating for customer needs throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify system gaps and recommend business, technical, or blended solutions.

  • Diagram current and future processes using BPMN 2.0, context diagrams, and data flow diagrams to support clear communication across teams.

  • Gather and document customer-centric requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria focused on improving business and technical outcomes.

  • Break down traditional requirements into Agile epics and features; write clear, actionable user stories aligned with customer goals.

  • Map user stories to technical designs to ensure solutions meet customer expectations.

  • Organize related user stories into features, documenting dependencies and aligning with business priorities.

  • Support the Product Owner in managing the product backlog with a customer-first approach.

  • Define and execute quality assurance processes, including test plans, test cases, and regression testing, to ensure deliverables meet expectations.

  • Coordinate and document user acceptance testing (UAT) with stakeholders, ensuring transparency and progress updates for project managers and scrum masters.


Required Skills:

  • 8 years of experience delivering business and systems analysis artifacts.

  • 8 years of proficiency translating client and product strategy requirements into application requirements and user stories.

  • 8 years of exceptional written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • 5 years of experience as an Agile Business Analyst with a strong understanding of Scrum concepts and methodology.

  • 5 years of proven experience organizing and maintaining Product and Sprint backlogs.

  • 5 years of experience defining acceptance criteria and managing the acceptance process with development teams.

  • 5 years of experience working with Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) 2.0.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification.

  • PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) certification.

  • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification.

  • Experience using Azure DevOps or Jira for Agile software development and work item tracking.

  • Experience with automated testing tools such as TestComplete, Cucumber, or Selenium.
