Position: Business Analyst
Location: Toronto, ON
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support the
design and implementation of a modern online registration platform serving both
external and internal users. The successful candidate will work closely with
business stakeholders and technology teams to understand business processes,
document requirements, facilitate solution design, support testing activities,
and contribute to successful project delivery within a public sector
environment.
This role requires an experienced Business Analyst with
strong requirements management, stakeholder engagement, process mapping, and
systems optimization capabilities. The position involves working onsite five
days per week during standard business hours.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements Management
- Gather,
analyze, and document business, system, and data requirements.
- Create
process models, workflow diagrams, Visio diagrams, and swim lane diagrams.
- Develop
use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Identify
business challenges and recommend effective solutions.
- Support
systems re-engineering and workflow optimization initiatives.
- Perform
database analysis and work with SQL as required.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Act
as a liaison between business users, IT teams, and third-party vendors.
- Facilitate
requirements workshops, stakeholder interviews, and JAD sessions.
- Prepare
documentation and presentations for both business and technical audiences.
- Support
stakeholder alignment through strong facilitation and communication
skills.
Technical Analysis & Collaboration
- Utilize
tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Visio, Lucidchart, MIRO, and
Figma.
- Collaborate
within SharePoint and Microsoft Teams environments.
- Support
requirements tracking, project collaboration, and process visualization
activities.
- Assist
with data-driven decision-making through analysis and reporting
activities.
- Work
with ERP, CRM, and cloud-based business solutions where applicable.
Systems Optimization & Digital Transformation
- Participate
in process improvement and digital transformation initiatives.
- Identify
workflow improvement and automation opportunities.
- Support
Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and Waterfall project delivery methodologies.
- Contribute
to solution planning and data-driven decision making.
Testing & Delivery Support
- Develop
functional and technical specifications.
- Create
and maintain prototypes and supporting documentation.
- Brief
development teams on business requirements.
- Lead
QA testing activities.
- Coordinate
User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
- Support
backlog refinement and ongoing requirements management.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Proven
experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business, system, and
data requirements.
- Strong
Business Analysis experience with Visio and swim lane diagrams.
- Experience
defining use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience
with database analysis and SQL.
- Strong
stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience
facilitating requirements workshops, interviews, and JAD sessions.
- Experience
with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience
using JIRA, Confluence, and Azure DevOps.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience
with Power BI and Advanced Excel.
- Experience
working with ERP, CRM, or cloud-based solutions.
- Experience
within public sector or government environments.
- Familiarity
with governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, and service delivery
models.
