Planning & Performance Business Analyst, Conferences

As Gartner Conferences continues to grow and expand its portfolio, we are strengthening our Planning & Performance team to support the increasing analytical needs of the business. The Planning & Performance Business Analyst will partner with leaders across the Conferences organization to deliver data-driven insights, performance analysis, forecasting, and business recommendations that support growth and operational excellence. This role combines analytical rigor, business acumen, and modern technology tools to enhance decision-making across the portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting cycles across the Conferences portfolio.
  • Manage and enhance weekly and monthly operational reporting and KPI tracking.
  • Produce actionable business insights and performance recommendations through analysis of commercial, operational, marketing, and financial data.
  • Identify trends, opportunities, risks, and performance drivers, and communicate findings to business leaders in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Prepare executive-level analytics, presentations, and business reviews for senior leadership.
  • Develop and maintain analytical models to support short- and long-term planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
  • Validate and analyze large operational datasets to develop meaningful KPIs and improve business decision-making.
  • Conduct root cause analyses to understand performance variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the Conferences business to translate business questions into analytical frameworks and data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic initiatives and business improvement projects.
  • Support revenue, marketing, and operational budget reporting requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data quality, and analytical capabilities.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and emerging analytics technologies to improve productivity, streamline workflows, and uncover deeper business insights.
  • Respond to ad hoc business analysis and operational data requests.

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred, ideally in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in business analysis, finance, analytics, consulting, or a related field.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable business recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, including experience developing executive-ready materials.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Power BI, including data modeling and data visualization.
  • Experience building analytical models that support forecasting, planning, and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with SQL, data querying tools, or other business intelligence technologies is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI and emerging analytics technologies to improve business outcomes, streamline workflows, and uncover actionable insights from complex datasets.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 72,000 USD - 100,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
