Job Description

Join a new Financial Services Data Repository project as a Business Analyst, working on a major initiative for a leading banking institution. You will serve as the critical link between business stakeholders and the IT development team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Gathering and analyzing business requirements from various financial service units (corporate banking, risk, finance, etc.) and translating them into functional specifications and user stories for the development team.

  • Designing functional solutions that meet business needs while aligning with the target architecture and data governance standards of the bank’s client data repository.

  • Acting as an interface between end-users and technical teams: ensure the development team fully understands the requirements and that the solution adheres to the bank’s operating model and governance policies.

  • Preparing and executing functional test plans (UAT) to validate that developed features meet the requirements, and assisting business users in their testing when integrating with other systems.

  • Supporting deployment and change management by creating user documentation, training materials, and conducting training sessions to onboard users to new processes and tools.

As a Business Analyst on this project, you will ensure that business needs are met through high-quality data and processes, directly impacting how the bank manages risk and client information. We are hiring multiple Business Analysts for this team, including one senior analyst who will take on a lead role in supervising the BA team and coordinating with project management.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Approximately 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst (or similar role), with at least 2 years specifically in data management or repository projects within the financial services industry.

  • Financial Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of banking or financial services processes. Experience with risk management, client data, or regulatory projects is a strong plus.

  • Data & IT Skills: Familiarity with Master Data Management (MDM) concepts or tools (e.g., Semarchy) and data governance practices. Comfortable with SQL and analyzing data sets; able to understand data models. Experience writing user stories and using collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence or similar) in an Agile environment.

  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Excellent requirements gathering, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Able to propose functional solutions that consider technical constraints.

  • Communication: Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Proven ability to act as a liaison between technical teams and business users, translating needs and ensuring mutual understanding.

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field. Professional training or certification in business analysis (CBAP, etc.) is a plus.

Additional Information

  • Sector: Banking / Financial Services – you will be contributing to a major data initiative in the financial industry, helping improve how a bank manages corporate client data for risk and regulatory purposes.

  • Project & Team: This role is part of a new multi-year project in the Data domain. The team is being established in Porto, Portugal, working closely with the bank’s central IT group in an international Agile environment. You’ll collaborate with project managers, developers, and other business analysts in Porto and abroad.

  • Work Model: Full-time position. Hybrid work arrangement is available – primarily working on-site with the possibility of some remote days (up to ~50% remote) once you are established in the role.
