The Technology Department delivers differentiation, scalability, and security for the business.

Technology provides digital tools, software services, and infrastructure globally to all business groups. Software development and support teams work in agile ‘streams’ aligned to specific business areas. Our other teams work enterprise-wide to provide critical services including our global service desk, network and system infrastructure, IT operations, security, enterprise architecture, and design.

The Business Technology function ensures delivery of Technology services to each Marex business area. We partner with the business to optimise their technology stack, prioritise their strategic technology roadmap, and drive their software delivery lifecycle. We define and agree change initiatives with the organisation’s business areas and then coordinate delivery against specific acceptance criteria. Each Business Technology team is aligned to one of Marex’s business divisions and works with a corresponding Development team and Application Support team. A global team of implementation resources coordinate and support the technology business streams with delivery.

Role Summary

Based in London, the Business Analyst collaborates with multiple stakeholders to design and implement the vision of world class platforms using innovative technology. They assist in the entire delivery from inception to business acceptance and remain a key contact in the areas they operate.

You will serve as a crucial liaison between business teams and technology teams, translating business needs into clear requirements and actionable solutions while guiding projects from inception through successful delivery. In this role, you will collaborate with stakeholders across multiple functions to gather and analyse requirements, document and model business processes, and define specifications (e.g. use cases, workflows) that drive development. You will ensure that technology solutions align with business goals and are delivered with high quality by facilitating communication between technical and non-technical teams, supporting testing and user acceptance validation, and managing changes and priorities in an Agile environment. Core competencies for this position include strong analytical and problem-solving skills (a structured, detail-oriented approach to breaking down complex issues), excellent written and verbal communication for effective stakeholder management, and a proactive, self-starting attitude with the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced setting. The ideal candidate can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, helping to drive continuous process improvements and deliver business value in a technology-driven financial services environment that may involve regulatory or risk considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional and technical analysis for integration projects and issues.
  • Provide business analysis for projects and issues related to applications and reporting systems/processes.
  • Proactively identify process improvements and gather high level specifications.
  • Assist in building controls and define business processes to ensure quality of data is maintained.
  • Assist with team workload including ad-hoc business under requests and user acceptance testing.
  • Provide strategic technological direction for the business.
  • Innovate new solutions, ensuring the business is always one step ahead of the competition.
  • Contribute to the technical direction of the department. Research new concepts and technologies. Evaluate third party products and tools that are (or  may be) used by them.
  • Create goals that capture business deliverables with an agreed set of Acceptance Criteria (the contract), and report on the priority/progress/effort/cost of these goals/projects.
  • Oversee projects to ensure they are run efficiently and delivered on time and on budget.
  • Prioritise and drive the business requirements giving regular status updates.
  • Ensure delivered infrastructure and systems are of production quality and adequately documented for handover to the business and/or support functions.
  • Ensure delivered systems are secure, reliable, and scale to meet the demands of a rapidly growing business.
  • Help define best software development practices and processes ensuring they are adhered to.
  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the SEC, FINRA, NFA,
  • CFTC and other applicable exchanges.
  • Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Detailed understanding of the role a Business Analyst plays and its deliverables in an Agile environment.
  • Knowledge of Clearing highly desirable
  • Experience of risk management and margin calls highly desirable
  • Experience with project planning and coordination.
  • Experience with stakeholder management and business analysis.
  • Experience with Agile and scrum development methodologies.
  • Experience of accounting practices within large organizations desirable.
  • Experience with product development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
