Company Description

Te Tākinatanga - Our Story

At Contact, we believe home is the most important place in the world. It's all part of our vision to leave Aotearoa better than we found it. We’re a power, mobile, and broadband company, but we’re so much more than that. We are transforming the ways we mahi, and how Aotearoa is powered, leading the charge on renewable energy and digitising customer journeys in ways not yet seen here. A team of 1000+ from all walks of life who love what we do, look out for each other, and learn from one another every day, we’re stoked to be guided by our tikanga: we touch lives to make life better.

Aotearoa is changing — and so is Contact. We’re on a mission to lead the decarbonisation of Aotearoa. And while technology is a critical part of our future, real transformation only happens when people understand it, embrace it, and feel confident with it.

Following our successful merge with Manawa Energy, our Technology team is kicking off one of our largest and more complex change pieces of work: a maintenance management programme that will reshape how critical operational processes run across the business.

To make this transformation successful, we need people to understand the change, embrace it, and feel supported every step of the way. That’s where you come in.

Job Description

TeWhiwhingamahi | The Opportunity

This Business Adoption Specialist role is dedicated to the Manawa Integration workstream. You’ll be embedded in a single squad, working deeply with cross‑functional teams in the workstream as well as stakeholders and users across the business receiving the change. We are looking for someone to help us help a diverse range of people navigate transformation with clarity and confidence.

You’ll report to the Chapter Lead – Experience & Business Adoption and join a chapter grounded in human centred practices, shared learning, and sustainable ways of working. You’ll be backed by a leader who gives you space to shine and a team that looks after each other.

You’ll be the translator — the person who turns technical into tangible, bringing product, process, and people together. You’ll design experiences that help people understand what’s changing, why it matters, and how to confidently step into new ways of working.

You’ll be:

  • Designing and delivering change and adoption strategies that help people understand, trust, and successfully use new systems and processes (particularly Maximo and SAP).
  • Connecting with a diverse range of roles, and processes which require understanding and co-ordination.
  • Building strong relationships across the business — including with teams who may not have worked with Technology or Manawa squads before.
  • Creating clear, engaging communications and training materials that meet people where they’re at.
  • Using analytics tools (e.g., Viva Insights, engagement metrics, Power BI) to track adoption and engagement and evolving your approach based on insights.
  • Keeping feedback loops alive and well so learnings flow into product and platform teams as changes land and mature.
  • Acting as the connective tissue between product design, delivery squads, and business users, ensuring adoption remains a priority for the full duration of this long running programme.

Qualifications

Kowaikoe| About You

You’re curious, open-minded, and generous with your knowledge. You enjoy simplifying complexity and helping people feel confident in moments of change. You thrive in collaborative environments and you’re comfortable navigating ambiguity through long-running transformation work.

We’d love it if you bought this to the table

  • Demonstrated experience delivering hands on change/adoption activities within complex or large-scale programmes
  • Experience with facilitating Enterprise programme level change
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) platforms like SAP or Maximo
  • Acumen to link and drive technical change and business outcomes

Bonus points for

  • Experience in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, Lean)
  • Background in product or change management (Prosci certification = bonus)

Additional Information

This is a 12-month fixed term contract where you'll have the chance to shape a major transformation initiative at Contact Energy and deliver meaningful impact across the business.

If you’re looking for a role where you can really make a difference, grow your career, and be part of a supportive, future-ready team, we’d love to hear from you!

Please note, only candidates with the right to live and work in New Zealand will be considered for this role.

Research shows that while men apply to jobs where they meet 60% of the criteria, women and those in underrepresented groups tend to only apply if they tick every box. We're not about box ticking, so if you think you have what it takes but don't meet everything stated above, please still get in touch. We'd love to kōrero.

Te Mata Hiko (Contact Energy) does not accept any CVs received from recruitment agencies where a formal engagement has not been confirmed and agreed to with our Talent team. In the event that unsolicited CVs are submitted by recruitment agencies, Te Mata Hiko (Contact Energy) reserves the right to contact these candidates directly and consider them for current/future vacancies without any financial obligation to the recruitment agency in question. This will also apply to any CVs sent directly to line managers.
