PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible to confirm that new product (related to new models, MOPF, Model Year, and Engineering Changes) is buildable to satisfactory level in Assembly production, ensuring successful launch/Ramp-Up. This position leads and coordinates a cross-functional working team to solve issues related to the fit of the vehicle.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead cross-functional problem-solving activities on behalf of the company with key partners in PP, AF, RD, and others as needed. Key partners at the company to represent and coordinate with include Body Introduction, Development Liaison (QVS), Production, Process Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE), and Quality Management (QM) to ensure the vehicle meets the vehicle inspection standard (VIS).
· Establish, design, and document the necessary process control plan to ensure the new type of vehicle consistently meets the necessary vehicle inspection standards. Give technical directions to Fit & Function Specialists to execute this system.
· Confirm Buildability is achievable for new products related to Engineering Changes during Series Production, as well as Model Year changes, MOPF Facelift, and New-Type Vehicle Production.
· Utilize CAD Software (Smaragd/Engineering Client) for digital Buildability confirmations.
· Interface regularly with Chief Engineer Production (CEP) Hub in Sindelfingen and across a global network, as well as Research and Development (R&D) to identify and implement product improvements.
· Participate in early build phases (Digital, E-Phase, and B-Phase) of new models to investigate part Buildability, identify unacceptable build conditions, and work with R&D to implement solutions.
· Support Pilot Team in build phases locally on Pilot Line to confirm new-model Buildability.
· Work with Production team to identify top build concerns during Trial Build Phases (PT1, PT2, and PT3) and coordinate improvements with CEP-Hub and R&D.
· Work with Production team support to identify top build concerns during Series Production and coordinate improvements with CEP-Hub and R&D.
· Confirm Buildability Check in PPAP System for new supplier parts, based on prototype part checks, in coordination with MP department.
· Utilize Zeus tracking system for implementation of countermeasures required to achieve Buildability in new product.
· Work with CEP-Hub and R&D to reduce complexity of product design/commonize similar components to improve manufacturability as well as reduce input costs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
·Must be Fluent in German and English
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study OR the equivalent combination of education and/or years of relevant working experience.
· Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in the following area(s): Process Engineering Role, Quality Engineering Role, Product Engineering Role
· Perform safe work practices and participate in training and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to supervisor or Human Resources.
· Work safely 100% of the time.
· Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Working knowledge of 3D Modeling Software (Ex. Solidworks, Siemens NX, AutoCAD)
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
· Working experience with Daimler Applications: Smaragd, Engineering Client, Dialog, Zeus
· Data Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills (5-Why Tool, 8D Problem Solving Method)
· Experience in new product launch cycle and trial phases
PREFERRED SKILLS:
· Ability to read and interpret part/product drawings
· German Language Skills
· Experience implementing Product Improvements to resolve Buildability concerns
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
· Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
