Summary of Job Description:

AbbVie's Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team is at the forefront of leveraging technology, data, digital, and AI capabilities to improve business outcomes and ultimately enhance patient care.

As a Senior Business Relationship Manager (BRM), you will serve as a strategic technology partner to key business functions in the Commercial organization, including Market Access. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand business priorities, identify opportunities for transformation, and deliver innovative technology, data, and AI-enabled solutions that create measurable value.

This role is responsible for managing and evolving a portfolio of local business applications while developing a long-term harmonization strategy that aligns local capabilities with Area and Global platforms. Success in this role requires strong collaboration across Japan, Area, and Global teams to influence strategy, accelerate innovation, and maximize reuse of enterprise capabilities.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:

1. Strategic Business Partnering

  • Collaborate across Customer Excellence, Global/Area Technology Teams, and Business Stakeholders. Serve as the primary BTS partner for assigned business functions, including Market Access.
  • Develop a deep understanding of business strategies, challenges, and opportunities to identify technology-enabled solutions.
  • Translate business priorities into actionable technology, data, digital, and AI initiatives, including predictive analytics and Next Best Action (NBA)
  • Provide strategic guidance on capability investments, process optimization, and innovation opportunities.
  • Influence adoption of technology and AI-driven ways of working in a matrixed environment
  • Foster innovation and promote new ways of working through technology, data, and AI.
  • Support capability building and digital literacy across business and technology teams.

2. Technology, Data & AI Solution Strategy

  • Define and execute Japan-specific business capability roadmaps aligned to local priorities and enterprise strategy. 
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, analytics, digital platforms, and AI to improve business performance.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and AI capabilities to address evolving business needs.
  • Partner with Area and Global teams to maximize reuse of enterprise capabilities and influence future capability development.
  • Ensure local solutions support a longer-term harmonization strategy with global platforms and standards.

3. Governance, Trust & Responsible AI

  • Establish and strengthen data governance, stewardship, and quality frameworks
  • Ensure responsible and compliant use of AI, aligned with AbbVie policies and regulatory requirements
  • Drive improvements in data integrity, accessibility, and model reliability to enable scalable adoption

4. Technology Delivery & AI Enablement

  • Own and manage a subset of data, analytics, and business applications
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of solutions, including AI use case identification, development, deployment, and adoption
  • Work with global teams to influence future data and AI capability enhancements
  • Partner with business and technical teams to define requirements, prioritize investments, and deliver solutions.
  • Manage external vendors and partners as needed to execute strategic initiatives.

5. Portfolio & Application Management

  • Own and manage a portfolio of local business applications and technology capabilities.
  • Establish lifecycle plans for applications, including enhancements, rationalization, modernization, and retirement.
  • Develop application roadmaps that balance local business requirements with enterprise platform adoption.
  • Drive simplification and standardization by reducing unnecessary local solutions where enterprise capabilities exist.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or related field
  • ~7 years of experience in technology strategy, digital transformation, business relationship management, consulting, solution delivery, or related fields.
  • Experience partnering directly with business leaders to shape strategy and define technology roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated success driving alignment between local business needs and global technology strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed environment
  • Experience delivering technology solutions across full lifecycle
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience in process improvement and automation
  • Understanding of regulated environments and data/compliance requirements
  • Fluency in both English and Japanese
