JOB DESCRIPTION


1. Essential Functions

  • Provides nursing care according to Physician’s orders and in conformance with     recognized medication aide practice, established standards, and administrative policies.
  • Assists in examinations and/or treatment of residents and carries out orders.
    • Has the skill to assess medication administration and notify Assisted Living Nurse in the    event of a change in the resident’s condition.
  • Accurately administers prescribed medications, responds to changes in medical     condition, medications or other circumstances requiring special care needs and performs        first aid as required.
  • Orients residents and staff to emergency procedures and responds to all emergency situations.
  • Completes and signs incident reports and provides follow-up as required.
  • Assures that all resident medication records are accurate, complete and all mandatory forms are on file.  Through familiarity and application of facility policies and procedures, assures that medication aide care is practiced in full accordance with regulatory requirements, facility quality standards, and resident rights.
  • Monitors resident environment to ensure all safety and sanitary regulations and quality standards are met or exceeded.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum Certified Medication Aide training.  Two years of experience working as a Certified Nurse Aide, including some Long Term Care experience and awareness of the needs of geriatric residents.
