Job Description
The Broadcast Maintenance Engineer will provide front line broadcast engineering and technical support across several studios, control rooms, and newsroom at the Los Angeles NBC & Telemundo facility. The main duties of this position include supporting all broadcast systems and technology. The station support needs span 7 days a week, and at many times of year a 24x7 schedule. This position is a temporary role that will last two months , with a possibility of extending longer.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Support the local stations by maintaining electronic and digital equipment to support live on-air production, linear broadcast, and streaming requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex systems, including HD-SDI and 2110 routers, as well as other broadcast & production systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on studio & control room equipment and assist with technical setup.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in broadcast maintenance engineering.
- Strong understanding of newsroom and workflow computer systems.
- Hands on knowledge and experience with studio switching, automation control, graphics systems, audio systems, and IFB and PL communications systems in on-air environments.
- Ability to read and understand system signal flow diagrams and schematics for television control room and studio facilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot analog and digital equipment to the component level.
- Deep knowledge of test equipment operation for diagnosis of all digital and analog signals.
- Possess the ability to prioritize and work independently with a high degree of detail.
- Position requires excellent interpersonal skills. Position requires a cool, levelheaded individual who works well under the pressures of live television.
- Understanding of the urgent needs of live on-air programs and the ability to stay focused and productive in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing assignments.
- Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds above the waist.

- This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement between the Company and the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET). Successful candidate will be required to join NABET if not already a member and remain a member of the union in good standing.
- Must be willing to work overtime, evenings, and on weekends with short notice, and respond to emergency calls.
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Additional Requirements:
- Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
- Salary Range: $56,888 to $120,459.04
