Job Description

Objective of the role:

We are looking for ideal candidate to oversee BPF ecosystem in SUSE products, be responsible for its quality and usability for customers by collaborating within SUSE as well as with the open source community. You will gain broad expertise in core Linux technologies, applying it to new code development and resolving critical customer issues.

Key responsibilities:

• Development, maintenance, and debugging of
      * BPF subsystem within SUSE's Linux kernel
      * BPF user space library/tool in SLES
      * BPF programs

• Backporting patches from vanilla kernel to kernels of SUSE/openSUSE products

• Collaborate with world wide SUSE R&D experts

• Technical analysis for code defects and contribute remedy patches

• Participation in the global Linux development communities, professional organizations, and community conferences

• Communication with R&D (English) and occasionally directly with customers (English, Mandarin)

Required skills, experience and characteristics:

• Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills

• Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies and work independently

• Flexibility and ability to work under pressure

• Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin)

• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written

• Excellent knowledge of the C programming language

• Familiarity with the Linux operating system and its command-line environment

• Familiarity with the BPF subsystem in the Linux kernel, including
   concepts such as maps, programs, links, and common BPF program types (e.g. tracing, networking)

• Experience with Linux kernel internals

• Experience with assembler language

Nice-to-haves:

• Familiarity with Linux debugging tools and techniques  (GDB, strace, crash, drgn...)

• Familiarity with compilers (GCC, LLVM/Clang, ...)

• Familiarity with development of BPF application

• Proven experience contributing to open-source projects, ideally withcontributions to the Linux kernel or related projects

• Experience with kernel patch management tools and workflows (e.g.  `git format-patch`, `git am`, quilt).

• Knowledge of how a BPF verifier works (Linux kernel's or PREVAIL)

• Experience with applying formal methods or abstract interpretation for software verification
