Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of bookkeepers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Oversee the day-to-day bookkeeping operations for a diverse client base, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks such as accounts payable, customer invoicing, bank reconciliations, and compliance filings (1099s, payroll, sales tax).
- Manage task lists, deadlines, and workflow for the bookkeeping team, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to firm and client timelines.
- Onboard new clients, including assessing their bookkeeping needs, setting up systems and processes, and educating clients on best practices.
- Review and ensure the accuracy and completeness of client general ledger records prior to tax return preparation.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, explaining financial concepts in clear, client-friendly language and providing proactive solutions to bookkeeping challenges.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in client records, recommending process improvements and workflow enhancements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant tax compliance requirements and accounting standards.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and client-focused team culture.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive bookkeeping experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities.
- Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks and Intacct (Sage Intacct); experience with NetSuite, MRI, and other accounting systems is a plus.
- Strong understanding of both accrual and cash basis accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and client relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-accountants.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with cloud-based accounting platforms and integrations.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and commitment to data integrity.
- Experience onboarding clients and implementing new bookkeeping processes.

Preferred Qualifications:
- ProAdvisor certification in QuickBooks or Intacct.
- Experience working in a public accounting firm or supporting tax compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
