We are looking for our next Bookkeeping Administrative Assistant at our Grain Elevator in La Harpe, IL. The Bookkeeping Administrative Assistant will be responsible for all the accounting functions related to the purchase and sale of grain handled, weighing and grading of inbound and outbound grain and corresponding data entry, administration of grain payments to farmer/suppliers, freight payables, preparation of daily merchandising report and monthly report preparation to accounting. This position requires a close working relationship with the local manager and operations personnel as well as Keokuk finance and grain departments’ personnel and must work closely with such external constituencies as Farmer/Suppliers and freight carriers.
This position is located La Harpe, IL. (La Harpe, Illinois, USA)
Compensation:
The current hourly pay for this role is estimated to be $19-$26/hour. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You’ll Do:
- Process payments to farmer suppliers
- Administer month-end accounting reports for LaHarpe Complex
- Maintain grain accounting software to accurately reflect grain receipts and shipments
- Daily accounting of all grain purchases and sales
- Weighing and grading inbound and outbound grain
- Maintain correct supplier information for producers who deliver grain to the LaHarpe Complex
- Work/interact with State Warehouse Examiners
- Print reports for suppliers for grain that has been delivered and be able to explain all applications of that grain
- Maintain working knowledge of merchandising reports
- Provide backup for manager in grain merchandising activity
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required during the year.
What You’ll Need:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s degree in Business or Accounting preferred
Experience:
- 1 to 2 years accounting/bookkeeping experience, 3-5 years of grain accounting/bookkeeping preferred
- Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite proficient
- Ability to apply analytical and problem solving to daily work functions
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Good interpersonal and customer service relations skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail with multiple tasks
- Knowledge of the Agris Grain Accounting Software preferred
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; work in hot, cold and loud environments.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position. Days and flexible hours of work are required to meet facility demands, including the ability to work overtime and weekends.
