About the role

We are currently seeking a Boilermaker to join our Afternoon Shift team.

 In this role, you will show up each day with a sense of enthusiasm and commitment to helping ensure all work is completed safely and to the highest quality.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

In this role you will:

  • Perform fabrication duties and welding duties including, but not limited to, welding flux core wire to AS1554.4, Mig weld butt joints in all positions to AS9606, and Carbon Arc back gouging for refurbishment work
  • Accurately read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure measurements and components meet required tolerances.
  • Undertaking materials handling / processing and associated tasks with the emphasis on Safety, Quality, productivity, cost, continuous improvement, delivery and Environmental concerns
  • Participating in any required site and training service provider learning, training and skill development
  • Ensuring compliance to ISO9001 and all Bradken Quality policies and procedures and participate where required in any associated Quality audits
  • Assist and work with maintenance and engineering personnel where required
  • Coaching and mentoring apprentices and junior personnel as required
  • Undertake other tasks such as forklift operation, profile cutting, and materials management etc within capabilities and training, when directed to by Workshop Supervisor or other site management.

You will have the enthusiasm and passion to step up and demonstrate strong leadership capabilities. You will champion safety, mentor less experienced staff, and help deliver great results.
You will also have:

  • Recognised Trade Qualification essential (Engineering Fabrication)
  • Previous experience in a heavy fabrication environment, preferably working on mining equipment
  • Ability to pass both a flux core and mig weld test to the AS1554.4 and AS9606 standards.
  • Forklift licence (desirable)
  • Certified to Work at Heights (desirable)
  • Certified to work in Confined Space (desirable)
  • Knowledge of safe working procedures
  • Sound competency of English literacy and numeracy
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Willingness to work Afternoon shifts
