Description
A Heavy Duty Truck Bodyman is responsible for repairing and maintaining the body of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and other large vehicles. This role requires expertise in welding, fabrication, and repair techniques specific to heavy-duty vehicle bodies. The Bodyman ensures that vehicles are structurally sound, aesthetically pleasing, and meet safety standards.
Requirements
- Repair and Maintain Vehicle Bodies: Assess and repair damage to heavy-duty truck bodies, trailers, and associated components such as hoods, doors, fenders, bumpers, and chassis.
- Welding and Fabrication: Utilize welding equipment and fabrication techniques to repair or replace damaged metal components. This includes welding steel and aluminum materials as needed.
- Panel Replacement: Remove and install damaged panels, ensuring proper alignment and structural integrity.
- Frame Straightening: Straighten bent or twisted frames using hydraulic equipment and specialized tools to ensure vehicles meet manufacturer specifications.
- Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, grinding, masking, and applying primers as necessary to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality.
- Painting: Apply paint and other coatings using spray guns and other painting equipment, ensuring color matching and a high-quality finish.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure repairs meet quality standards and customer expectations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used, labor hours, and repair procedures.
