We’re hiring a Senior BAS/BMS Controls Programmer with strong Tridium Niagara and Distech Controls experience to program, commission, and optimize building automation systems onsite and remotely. You’ll develop control logic, graphics, and integrations (BACnet, Modbus, etc.), perform startups, troubleshooting, and field commissioning, and support service teams and clients. The role requires reading wiring/sequence documentation, maintaining project backups and reports, and collaborating with engineers to improve system efficiency and compliance.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
System Programming & Configuration
- Develop and program BAS/BMS control logic, Niagara stations, controller applications, and user interface graphics.
- Configure and integrate devices using protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LON (as applicable).
- Build and validate sequences of operation based on project documentation.
- Create and maintain system backups, job files, and revision history.
Commissioning & Troubleshooting
- Perform onsite startup, testing, and commissioning of BAS/BMS systems.
- Diagnose and resolve control system and network communication issues.
- Verify sensor/actuator operation, I/O mapping, and system functionality.
- Support remote diagnostics and ongoing technical support as needed.
Field Collaboration & Documentation
- Work with project managers, engineers, electricians, and field technicians to ensure accurate installation and system performance.
- Review construction drawings, control submittals, and wiring diagrams.
- Prepare commissioning reports, redlines, and as‑built documentation.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to internal teams and clients.
Optimization & System Enhancements
- Finetune control loops, schedules, alarms, and energy‑saving strategies.
- Identify improvement opportunities within existing systems.
- Assist service teams with upgrades, migrations, and retrofits.
Program Execution
- Leads multi‑country deployment programs with consistent quality and repeatability.
- Manages design consultants, controls contractors, commissioning agents, and system integrators.
- Oversees factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, and enterprise‑level validation.
- Drives schedule, budget, and risk management across a global portfolio.
Operational Enablement
- Delivers a fully functional, secure, and maintainable BMS ecosystem.
- Ensures training, documentation, and handover to operations teams.
- Implements analytics, dashboards, alarms, and performance monitoring for continuous improvement.
Business Impact
- Reduces operational risk through standardized controls and visibility.
- Improves energy efficiency, uptime, and compliance across global facilities.
- Enables data‑driven decision‑making at the enterprise level.

Education:
- Four-year college degree required
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
Important Experience:
Required:
- 5+ years BAS/BMS programming & commissioning experience (or as specified)
- Proven experience with Tridium Niagara (Niagara station development)
- Experience with Distech Controls (controller/station configuration)
- Strong HVAC control theory and ability to interpret sequences of operation
- Experience with BACnet and Modbus device integration
- Field commissioning/startup experience (on-site troubleshooting)
- Remote access and network troubleshooting proficiency
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally / occasionally overnight
Preferred: Niagara N4 and manufacturer certifications.
