Job Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Hourly

Reports To: Manager- Paint

Location: Ponca City, OK

Amount of Travel Required: N/A

Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday (5:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and Sunday-Thursday (7:00 p.m. – 4 p.m.)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Blaster uses specialized tools and machinery to remove imperfections, rust, paint, and dirt from hard surfaces. They are responsible for loading and unloading abrasive materials into the blasting machine, ensuring proper setup and maintenance of the equipment. The Blaster also inspects surfaces after blasting to ensure standards are met.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may.")

  • Performs sandblasting operations to clean and prepare surfaces for coating applications effectively removing imperfections, scale, rust, paint, and dirt.
  • Loads and unloads abrasive materials into blasting equipment.
  • Ensures proper setup and maintenance of the blasting equipment.
  • Adheres to all safety protocol including the use of protective gear.
  • Inspects surfaces after blasting to ensure required specifications and standards are met.
  • Follows established Lean Manufacturing and 6-S procedures.
  • Observes all safety regulations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Successfully passes background check, pre-employment drug screening, an any pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s) including pre-employment Pulmonary Function Test (PFT.)
  • In-person, predictable attendance

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent certificate
  • 0-2 years of related industrial painting experience; 2-5 yrs. preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment not required, but highly desirable
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools or ability to learn within three months.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES

  • Willing to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Willing to learn both concepts and techniques of blueprint reading and Fitting
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and have a strong attention to detail
  • Must have physical dexterity and stamina
  • Possess the ability to effectively communicate and convey information and collaborate with teammates
  • Must be able to follow verbal directions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Daily required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach and squat/kneel.  Work environment includes exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, audio up to 85 dB and inclement weather, including typical and atypical outdoor elements and extreme cold and hot weather temperatures. Given these conditions employees are required to wear company mandated and issued personal protective equipment (PPE) (long-sleeve shirt/jeans, blasting hood, steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection, and blasting gloves) and must strictly adhere to all safety policies. Blasters are regularly required to lift heavy objects; therefore, the Weld Trainee must be able to lift 49 lbs. independently and 50 100 lbs. with a team lift.


Work hours may include or includes early morning, late evenings, and weekends, depending on business necessity.
