Position Summary: Responsible for managing the development, growth and strategy for specific automotive body structures products
Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:
- Oversee the product identification and development for growth of the designated product(s).
- Maintain the lead engineering role overseeing the product(s) and effectively enlist corporate engineering resources during the product’s development and life.
- “Speak to” the product’s relevance and train staff on the details of the product(s).
- Coordinate with the Business Unit(s) to appropriately position and market new product(s).
- Coordinate to develop a strategic plan for advancing the product’s visibility and marketing.
- Determine market size and portential for new products.
- Maintain the intelectual property portfolio for the designated product area.
- Lead strategic planning within the department to align activities with the company’s priorities.
- Staff Management:
- Conduct timely and complete performance evaluations of direct associates; and ensure timely and complete performance evaluation of associates reporting under your indirect supervision.
- Assess subordinates skill sets, current and future development needs and take steps to mentor and develop them appropriately.
- Set direction of department and hold individuals accountable to performance standards and strategic objectives
- Identify and train a back-up(s) to manage key tasks when absent.

- Bachelors of Science in Engineering, or Related Field.
- Masters of Business Administration preferred.
- 8+ years experience in engineering/manufacturing/operations within the product group being managed.
- 3+ years of experience in product development, specifically for automotive structural and/or crash management components.
- Must be an industry expert in the assigned product(s).
- Experience with Microsoft Applications (e.g. word, excel, outlook, etc).
Skills Required
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Related Field
- Master of Business Administration
- 8+ years experience in engineering, manufacturing, or operations within the product group being managed
- 3+ years experience in product development for automotive structural and/or crash management components
- Industry expertise in the assigned product(s) (BIW/body structures)
