We are looking for a skilled BIW Fixture Design Engineer with 2–6 years of experience in automotive body-in-white (BIW) fixture design and engineering. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in CATIA V5, BIW Fixture Design, and UG NX, along with an understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and fixture development.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying BIW fixtures and tooling used in automotive body assembly. The role requires close attention to dimensional accuracy, manufacturability, assembly feasibility, and design standards.


RequirementsKey Responsibilities
  • Design and develop BIW fixtures, checking fixtures, and assembly tooling for automotive body-in-white applications.
  • Create and modify detailed 3D fixture models and assemblies using CATIA V5 and UG NX.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, vehicle layouts, part data, GD&T requirements, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Develop fixture concepts based on part geometry, assembly sequence, locating schemes, clamping requirements, and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Perform fixture design modifications based on engineering changes, manufacturing feedback, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure proper locating, clamping, pinning, and supporting strategies for BIW components.
  • Work on fixture structures, clamps, locators, brackets, supports, sensors, and other tooling components.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve design and assembly-related issues.
  • Ensure designs meet dimensional accuracy, accessibility, safety, ergonomics, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Review designs and incorporate feedback from internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Prepare and maintain design documentation, drawings, BOMs, and other engineering deliverables.
  • Support design validation, design reviews, and troubleshooting during fixture build and tryout activities.
Must-Have Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with CATIA V5 for 3D modeling, assembly, and detailing.
  • Practical experience in BIW Fixture Design for automotive body assembly applications.
  • Good working knowledge of UG NX for fixture and tooling design.
  • Understanding of BIW manufacturing processes, assembly methodology, locating principles, and clamping concepts.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and dimensional requirements.
  • Strong understanding of fixture components, tooling structures, locators, pins, clamps, and supports.
  • Ability to work independently on design tasks and deliver projects within defined timelines.
Good-to-Have Skills
  • Experience in Concept Design and developing fixture concepts from initial requirements.
  • Knowledge of 3D Finish and finalizing detailed 3D fixture models.
  • Experience with 2D Finish, including detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
  • Familiarity with automotive OEM standards and BIW tooling methodologies.
  • Understanding of design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA).
  • Exposure to fixture build, tryout, and shop-floor issue resolution.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2–6 years of relevant experience in BIW fixture design, automotive tooling, or body assembly engineering.
