 We’re looking for a 3D Artist to join the Bitmoji Team at Snap! 

What you’ll do

  • Expand our content library by creating content that makes people smile millions of times every day and collaborate with other creatives and developers to deliver the highest quality for our product 

  • Support Content Leads through assigned supervisory and review tasks

  • Assist Content Leads in organizing processes, workflows and project allocation for the team

  • Lead individual projects and communicate project needs and progress to team stakeholders

  • Work with the Content Team to create engaging character animations using the Bitmoji avatar 

  • Create a wide variety of character animations in accordance with specific technical requirements and limitations that will be seen and shared by millions of people around the world

  • Ensure high animation quality and optimization based on concepts and instructions from Content Leads

  • Create animations that are suitable for real-time playback and social sharing.

  • Learn new programs and processes that pertain to current and upcoming projects

  • Participate in giving art critiques to peers

  • Assist in mentoring & training team members

  • Communicate personal production goals to Content Leads

  • Understand technical needs of new projects, and collaborate with other teams, as needed

  • Continuously evaluate projects’ overall look, feel, and aesthetics

  • Take an active role in cultivating a dynamic and creative environment

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Superior knowledge of facial animation (facial movement and portraying different moods) and body mechanics

  • A demonstrated ability to adapt to an established visual style and act effectively on feedback

  • Exceptional skills in composition, commitment to highest quality of design and an eye for detail

  • Highly proficient in Maya or other equivalent industry-standard animation software

  • Ability to quickly learn new programs and processes

  • Excellent team, communication, and organizational skills

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Animation, or related field or equivalent years of experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a 3D character animation role 

  • A strong 3D design portfolio featuring appealing character acting and body mechanics and superior grasp of composition

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3+ shipped titles or projects

  • Solid experience with motion capture cleanup workflows such as editing and enhancing raw mocap data

  • Experience creating starter files, templates, materials, and actions within software to streamline processes

  • Experience with Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro and other industry-standard post-production tools

  • Experience producing blend shapes (facial expressions and lipsync morph targets), as well as rigging

  • Ability to create short loops for game-style animations

  • Strong skills in digital illustration, typography, and/or making comics are a definite plus!

  • Experience working with avatar systems, game engines, or real-time animation pipelines is a plus!

The expected pay range for this role is $116,000 - $128,000 CAD. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable for the position. This position may be eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
