We are searching for the best talent for a Manager, Procurement – Single Use Technology, Biologics to join our Global Innovative Medicine Supply Chain Procurement team. This hybrid position will be located in Titusville, New Jersey, United States; Cork, Ireland; or Zug, Switzerland.


Procurement is a key enabler of Johnson & Johnson’s growth. As part of the Procurement organisation, this role will support and deliver performance across supply reliability, quality, innovation, cost competitiveness, supply network readiness and corporate citizenship, while collaborating with the wider Procurement and Supply Chain community.


The Procurement Manager will be a member of the Biologics Single Use Technology category team, supporting the global procurement of direct materials used throughout Biotherapeutics Drug Substance manufacturing. The role will have direct responsibility for selected supplier relationships, sourcing initiatives and critical category programmes. The Manager will partner closely with suppliers, manufacturing sites, technical teams, Quality, Planning, R&D and other Procurement colleagues to improve material resilience, supplier performance and value creation. Success will be measured across financial performance, supply and delivery performance, quality, service, stakeholder engagement, category strategy execution and compliance.

Key ResponsibilitiesSupplier Relationship Management
  • Lead strategic and critical SUT supplier relationships, including supplier performance, governance, relationship development and issue escalation.
  • Establish clear supplier performance expectations and work with suppliers and internal partners to improve reliability, quality, service, responsiveness and competitiveness.
  • Lead or support supplier reviews and improvement plans, ensuring actions, accountabilities and commitments are effectively tracked and delivered.
  • Build productive relationships with supplier leadership and cross-functional teams to support both operational priorities and longer-term business needs.
Strategic Sourcing and Negotiation
  • Lead and execute sourcing events for assigned SUT materials, suppliers and projects in alignment with the overall category strategy.
  • Develop sourcing and negotiation strategies using business requirements, supplier capabilities, cost insights, market intelligence and risk considerations.
  • Negotiate commercial terms that improve total cost, service, supply assurance, flexibility and overall value to Johnson & Johnson.
  • Identify and deliver value creation opportunities, including cost reduction, cost avoidance, demand management and supply chain optimisation.
Contracting and Commercial Management
  • Lead or support the development, negotiation, approval and administration of supplier agreements.
  • Partner with Legal, Quality, Finance and relevant business stakeholders to ensure appropriate commercial terms, risk protections and performance expectations are incorporated into agreements.
  • Monitor supplier and internal compliance with contractual commitments and support the resolution of commercial issues.
Category Strategy Execution
  • Contribute to the development, refresh and implementation of the global SUT category strategy.
  • Translate category priorities into sourcing plans, supplier initiatives and measurable actions.
  • Provide market, supplier and operational insights to support category decisions and longer-term strategy development.
  • Support supplier diversification, standardisation, specification simplification and resilience initiatives across the SUT portfolio.
Supply Reliability and Risk Management
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Planning, Quality, manufacturing sites and suppliers to identify and mitigate supply continuity risks.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional teams addressing supplier performance, material availability, lead-time and quality challenges.
  • Support risk assessments, business continuity pla
  • nning, capacity reviews and the qualification of alternative suppliers or materials.
  • Monitor external market developments, supplier capacity and sub-tier risks that could affect the SUT supply base.
Business and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Develop strong relationships with manufacturing sites, technical teams, Quality, Planning, R&D and other business partners.
  • Understand stakeholder priorities and translate business needs into effective procurement and supplier actions.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional programmes supporting operational excellence, network readiness and value creation.
  • Communicate risks, decisions, recommendations and progress clearly to Procurement and business leadership.
  • Ensure alignment with Procurement strategies, standards, governance and compliance requirements.
Network, Launch and Pipeline Readiness
  • Support material and supplier readiness for new product introductions, technology transfers, capacity expansions and new manufacturing sites.
  • Engage with R&D and technical partners to understand future SUT requirements and support resilient material and supplier decisions.
  • Contribute procurement and supplier insights at appropriate stages of product development and network planning.
  • Coordinate supplier actions required to support qualification, scale-up, validation and manufacturing readiness.
Procurement Excellence
  • Apply Procurement processes, systems and analytical tools consistently across assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate sourcing, contracting, savings, supplier performance and risk-management records.
  • Share insights and best practices across the SUT category team and wider Procurement organisation.
  • Support continuous improvement and the adoption of more efficient, standardised and digitally enabled ways of working.

QualificationsEducation
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, preferably in Business, Supply Chain, Economics, Engineering, Science or a related discipline.
  • An MBA or other relevant advanced degree is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, PMP or equivalent are beneficial.
Experience and Skills

Required

  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, supplier management or a related field.
  • Experience in one or more Procurement disciplines, such as strategic sourcing, category management, supplier relationship management, supplier performance or contract management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead sourcing projects and negotiate commercial agreements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive outcomes without direct authority.
  • Ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders across different functions, sites and geographies.
  • Strong analytical, business and financial acumen, with the ability to develop recommendations and support value-based decisions.

Other Requirements
  • The role may require up to 15% domestic and international travel.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work across global teams and time zones as business needs require.
  • The position requires the ability, through our flexible work policy, to work on site a minimum of three days per week, with the option for two remote working days each week.
