Labcorp is seeking a US based remote Bioinformatics Software Engineer III to join our team!

Job Responsibilities:

As a Bioinformatics Software Engineer III, you will be producing software and documentation that will directly impact our products, customers, and patients. You will lead technical development projects and perform fact-finding research as required. In support of the team, you will provide guidance to others to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. As a subject matter expert, you will leverage that expertise to drive decision making. 

Personal Genome Diagnostics (PGDx), a part of LabCorp, is Empowering the Fight Against Cancer by unlocking actionable information from the genome. We are developing an innovative portfolio of tissue-based and non-invasive liquid biopsy genomic products for laboratories worldwide. 

  • Work on complex problems where analysis of situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of conflicting factors. Exercise judgement within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Ensure project schedules and performance requirements are met.

  • Provide reports to managers and staff on systems and software, including capabilities, performance, and security

  • Interact with management on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Requires the ability to change the thinking of or gain acceptance of others.

  • Responsible for the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff.

  • Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science, or Software Engineering

  • 5 or more years of experience in software engineering

  • 5 or more years of experience with Python, PERL, R, C/C++, Java, or BASH

  • 5 or more years of experience with Next Generation Sequencing (NSG), pipeline development or machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science, or Software Engineering

  • 4 or more years of experience in Bioinformatics

  • 4 or more years of experience with Algorithm development

  • 4 or more years of experience with Angular, React, or JavaScript

  • 4 or more years of experience with Django, or RESTful APIs

  • 4 or more years of experience with SQL, or NoSQL

  • 4 or more years of experience with agile software development methodology and practices, git source control, and Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo).

Additional Job Standards

  • Familiarity with concepts in genomics and bioinformatics analysis of cancer

  • Demonstrated knowledge with Workflow systems

  • Ability to effectively perform in a Linux environment

  • Team-first attitude and entrepreneurial spirit

  • Ability to deliver within fixed deadlines

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly on the job

Pay Range: $110-$150k annually (USD)

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
