About Orakl Oncology

Orakl Oncology develops large cohorts of patient-derived organoids (PDO), from which we generate large volumes of data and train proprietary AI algorithms to help pharma teams develop new treatments for patients. In practice: we culture ~100 PDOs in parallel at any given time in the lab, screen dozens of drugs weekly and own a growing biobank with and an expanding client portfolio.

About the Role

As Biobank Operations Engineer, you will ensure the operational execution and the integrity of the traceability chain (both physical and informational) for biobank samples, from collection/reception through to release for projects, in compliance with quality and contractual requirements.

You will have a direct and strong impact on the scientific and operational quality of the data we produce. We expect you to work with a high level of autonomy and you will report directly to the Biobank Lead.

What You'll Do
  • Receive, register, and qualify biological samples (fresh or frozen) in accordance with established procedures

  • Ensure complete traceability of samples throughout their lifecycle (receipt, processing, storage, shipment)

  • Aid in the planning and prioritising of biobanking activities

  • Participate in the structuring, characterisation, expansion and operation of the ORAKL ONCOLOGY avatar bank;

  • Analyse and interpret experimental results;

  • Maintain and improve inventory management systems (LIMS/internal database) — you will be the team's primary reference for these

  • Independently carry out laboratory procedures (thawing, culture, sample preparation, and quality control operation) with a high level of technical precision

  • Flag, document, and escalate any anomaly or deviation to the Biobank Manager

  • Apply and enforce quality procedures (SOPs, GLP) within the team

  • Draft, update, and improve SOPs related to biobanking activities

  • Manage non-conformities: identification, documentation, corrective action proposal and follow-up

  • Ensure compliance with applicable hygiene and safety requirements

  • Contribute to regular reporting to the Biobank Manager (activity, incidents, needs)

  • Support the skills development of technicians and interns within the team

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in life sciences (biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or related field)

  • Significant experience (3+ years) in a laboratory environment or biobank setting

  • Proven experience in cell culture techniques (including organotypic models) and cryopreservation

  • Knowledge of laboratory quality systems (SOP writing, document management, traceability)

  • Self-driven, rigorous and able to prioritise in a multi-project environment;

  • Excellent communication

  • Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a startup or fast-growing environment

  • Interest in technology watch and life sciences innovation

  • Interest in process improvement and operational tooling
