Blue Energy’s mission is to unlock energy abundance, energy affordability, energy security, and turn-key decarbonization by developing the fastest path to deploying new nuclear MWs at scale. We are utilizing shipyard manufacturing supply chains and techniques from offshore oil and wind to reduce the cost of nuclear plants by over 60% and the manufacturing timeline to 24 months. Blue Energy is a platform technology that makes use of the latest NRC-approved reactors and is in negotiations with existing nuclear and industrial sites, enabling a much faster regulatory pathway to deploy our first unit. With our innovative centralized shipyard manufacturing approach, we can put nuclear power on a cost-reduction learning curve akin to wind, solar, and lithium-ion batteries.
Role SummaryThe BIM Modeler & Renderer would play a key role in the engineering team and act as the main point of contact to the commercial and business development teams within Blue Energy. As Blue Energy explores new sites, the modeler would be responsible for developing preliminary site plans and models for these sites. Because the main site layout changes regularly, the modeler would need to have a good understanding of how power plants operate so they could make educated decisions regarding future plant layouts. They would need to interact with the lead engineers to verify the latest design changes are factored into the plant design.
Key ResponsibilitiesRender 3D models from Navisworks Manage to present at large public forums (e.g. Blue Energy Website, fund raising slides, conferences, business development meetings)
Develop 3D models in AutoCAD Plant 3D or similar software for various sites
Retrieve and map sites and their terrain features in 3D modelling and rendering software
Create preliminary site layouts for potential nuclear plant locations identified by the business development team
Generate high-quality visualizations and renderings for presentations to landowners, offtakers, and stakeholders
Collaborate with the business development team to understand site requirements and constraints
Incorporate a standard SMR plant configuration into site-specific models
Maintain a library of standardized plant components and modules for rapid site modelling
Produce marketing-quality renderings and animations for commercial presentations
Support proposal development with visual materials and site feasibility assessments
Create fly-through animations and interactive presentations for stakeholder meetings
Coordinate with the engineering team to ensure commercial models reflect current design standards
Develop site comparison studies and visual alternatives for business development decisions
5+ years of experience with 3D modeling software (AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, 3DS Max etc.)
Proficiency in rendering software (3ds Max, V-Ray, Lumion, KeyShot, or equivalent)
Experience with GIS software and terrain modeling capabilities
Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and site development
Excellent visual communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience creating presentation-quality visualizations and marketing material
Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or related field
Experience in power generation, nuclear, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors
Knowledge of nuclear power plant systems and layout requirements
Familiarity with regulatory requirements for nuclear plant siting
Experience with drone surveying or photogrammetry
Background in thermal power plant design and operations
Understanding of electrical transmission and distribution systems
Experience with Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality visualization tools
Knowledge of shipyard manufacturing and modular construction techniques
We look forward to your application and helping foster an era of safe, clean, affordable, and abundant energy.

What We Do
Nuclear power is singular in its ability to deliver reliable, clean, and abundant electricity anywhere in the world at scale. With the technology we have today, we can enter an era of energy abundance and maintain a healthy planet.
Blue Energy was started to realize this vision.
We are designing power plants that can be mass-produced now, in the world as it is, as a stepping stone to the world we want. Like the digital revolution, success will drive innovation into next-generation form factors and use cases. It starts by building a great product that the world loves.
