Job Summary:

Salas O’Brien is seeking a BIM Automation Developer I to develop and implement automation solutions for engineering tasks, creating scripts and tools to enhance BIM efficiency.


Job duties include:

  • Developing and implementing automation solutions for engineering tasks within the firm.
  • Creating scripts and tools that enhance efficiency in BIM coordination, modeling, and design workflows.
  • Collaborating with project teams to understand automation needs and assist in the implementation of solutions that streamline workflow and improve productivity.
  • Developing and implementing basic to intermediate automation solutions for engineering tasks.
  • Executing BIM coordination and integration of various design software under guidance.
  • Writing and maintaining clean, well-documented code for automation scripts.
  • Testing and debugging automation solutions to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Assisting in maintaining existing automation tools and scripts.
  • Collaborating with senior developers and project teams to understand project requirements.
  • Staying current with industry tools and technologies through ongoing learning and development.
  • Providing basic technical support to team members using automation tools.
  • Documenting workflows and processes for developed automation solutions.
  • Participating in regular code reviews and implement feedback.
  • Assisting in training team members on the use of automation tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • U.S. Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 1 year’s experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Experience with custom Computational Design and Automation for MEP systems within Revit, including development of Dynamo workflows to streamline multidisciplinary coordination tasks.
  • Experience using Revit API for programmatic manipulation of electrical elements, such as panels, circuits, loads, and equipment parameters.
  • Experience developing custom Revit add-ins or plugins to support company-specific design standards and workflows.
  • Experience with C# automation within Revit, leveraging exposure to the Revit API to create custom tools and scripts that enhance design efficiency and accuracy.
