The starting pay range for this position begins at $17.09/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. 

Security Officers at the entry level of Security Officer 1 are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of guests, employees, company assets, and property while supporting Biltmore Estate’s world-class guest service experience. Duties may vary depending on assignment or location and require a professional, service-oriented approach to security operations.

Flex: A position working an average of 20-29 hours per week (between 1000 - 1559 hours/year). Schedule can vary but is generally 8am-6pm, or 1pm-11pm.

Requirements:

1. Must be at least 19 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.

2. High school diploma required. Related training or certifications helpful. Must have or be able to obtain AED, CPR and First Aid certification.

3. At least one (1) year of similar experience in guest services support, safety, security, or a related field preferred. The ideal candidate will have had prior experience working with safety/security in an attractions, hospitality, and/or upscale hotel/resort environment with a focus on guest service.

4. Demonstrated commitment to delivering world class internal/external guest service.

5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to write and complete reports in standard English. Knowledge of second language helpful.

6. Ability to properly evaluate situations and exercise good judgment is essential.

7. Must be proactive and take initiative where appropriate; ability to troubleshoot and handle a variety of guest and employee situations in a professional manner consistent.

8. Works effectively both independently and as part of a dynamic guest service team.

9. Must be able to quickly acquire knowledge of Biltmore's systems, and protocols.

10. Ability to prioritize work, multi-task, and adapt accordingly.

11. Keen attention to detail.

Physical Requirements: 

This position will require a physical exam at the Biltmore Clinic prior to starting work. An offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of this examination. 

1. The incumbent will work inside and outside in all types of weather with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.
2. The incumbent will be required to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
3. The incumbent will be required to physically assist guests and employees as needed.
4. The incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; must be capable of lifting/pulling/pushing up to 100 pounds with assistance if needed.
5. The incumbent must possess what is medically considered normal sensory acuity with all senses and be able to handle and respond to multiple stimuli simultaneously.
6. Must have a valid NC Driver's License with clean driving record & be at least 19 years of age
7. Must be able to look at computer screens for an extended period of time.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Providing assistance to guests, employees, and vendors in a professional, courteous, and hospitable manner
2. Delivering security and emergency response services for assigned locations and events
3. Supporting the safety and operational needs of staff, guests, and vendors across the estate
4. Maintaining access control for collections, secured buildings, restricted areas, and other company property and assets
5. Monitoring assigned areas to identify and address potential safety or security concerns
6. Responding appropriately to incidents, emergencies, and requests for assistance

7. Upholding company policies, procedures, and safety standards at all times
8. Providing general support and assistance to leadership, the Security Department, and the company as needed
9. Security Officer 1 personnel are expected to demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, situational awareness, and a commitment to exceptional guest service in a dynamic hospitality environment.

Skills Required
