  • Job Title: Bilingual Project Manager - Events
  • Job Summary: Support and closely work with the Premier Events department to enable event content opportunities by communicating and negotiating with partners and counterparts in Asia, and provide on-site support and interpretation/translation services as needed for our guests at events.

What you’ll do

  • Communicate with partners and counterparts in Asia on behalf of the Premier Events department to support the department’s initiatives and planning. 
  • Develop a thorough understanding of complex relationships and dynamics between TPCi and partner companies to enable clear communications in multilingual/cross-cultural environments. 
  • Translate emails, documents, pitch decks, and reports. 
  • Interpretate business meetings that often contain specialized terminology related to video games, trading card games, and event logistics and operations. 
  • Be on-site during events to directly provide support and interpretation/translation services for our guests as needed or manage and direct vendors to provide that support. 
  • Review and maintain localization of guidelines, rules, and regulations of gaming tournaments. 
  • Support the Manager in compiling post-event reports. 
  • Work with multiple internal departments and stakeholders to answer any questions our partners and counterparts may have. 
  • Handle negotiation and execute contracts with talents/speakers for event content and work with stakeholders to finalize details as needed. 
  • Develop a deep understanding of Pokémon games and communities. 
 

What you’ll bring

  • At least 5 years of experience in professional translation and interpretation between Japanese and English. 
  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • 2+ years of experience in the event/entertainment/gaming/esports industry is preferred. 
  • Talent and/or executive management experience. 
  • Skilled at high-level negotiation in both Japanese and English. 
  • Ability to navigate complex cross-cultural communications with a thorough understanding of both American and Japanese cultures. 
  • A solid understanding of Japanese business culture, structure, and manners. 
  • Ability to translate and interpret without supervision. 
  • Native-level Japanese language proficiency. 
  • Fluency in Japanese honorific speech (敬語). 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools. (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.) 
  • Ability to work under pressure and under challenging timelines. 
  • Ability to proactively manage multiple assigned projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision. 
  • Team player with the ability to work with various groups across multiple organizations. 
  • Ability to learn new tools, processes, and relationships quickly. 

Base Salary Range: For this role, new hires generally start between $105,000 - $124,450 per year. The full range is $105,000 - $157,000 per year. This range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. The final base salary is directly related to the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience uniquely.
