Located in Chicago’s historic Stockyards, CMA is a forward-thinking processor of value-added beef, pork, and poultry items with a strong focus on selling the Healthcare, Hotel, and Institutional Markets (HRI), meat purveyors, and multi-unit regional and national chains up to and including big box stores. In addition, CMA specializes in custom cuts for further processors including but not limited to grinding operations, deli manufacturers, and the prepared entrée market.
CMA is seeking an onsite HR Generalist to perform specialized and clerical tasks for human resources and payroll related programs, policies and initiatives. This position will be responsible for providing day-to-day support to line supervisors and employees.
What You Get to Do
- Lead the full-cycle recruitment process for all company positions, including job requisition, candidate sourcing, interviewing, and selection, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
- Administer the employee Learning Management System through UKG.
- Administer the employee Benefits programs including the open enrollment process.
- Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints or concerns.
- Administer workers' compensation claims and coordinate with insurance providers.
- Responsible for the payroll processing, time and attendance recording, and paid time off benefits.
- Conduct monthly/annual/quarterly anti-harassment training.
- Assist managers with policy compliance.
- Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as effectively interpreting FMLA and ADA implications in relation to leaves of absences/disabilities, company policies, and attendance records.
- Generate standard HR reports (Affirmative Action Plan, OSHA 300, EEO-1, Work Comp, timekeeping, etc.).
- Respond to employment verifications, wage garnishments, UFCW requests, vacation/PTO requests, etc.
- Process Union dues, Health and Welfare Funds and Pension invoices.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws required to ensure compliance.
- Maintain employee records/files while safeguarding confidentiality.
- Participate in all Human Resource initiatives and projects.
- All other HR duties as assigned.
What We Want From You
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field strongly preferred, or equivalent work history.
- 3+ years’ experience in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of payroll and HRIS Systems (e.g. UKG Pro, Paylocity, ADP).
- Knowledge of national laws and regulations related to employment.

Compensation: $60,000-75,000 annually, based on level of expertise and prior job experience.
