What you'll be doing
We are seeking a highly motivated Bilingual Manager, Background Screening team to oversee and enhance our background screening processes. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements while driving efficiency and accuracy in background checks for new hires.

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.
How you’ll succeed
- People management - Provide subject matter expertise to a group of background screening analysts and manage performance by providing direct support to analysts by addressing questions, conducting reviews, and offering guidance
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation - Identify and assess potential risks within background screening processes. Analyze fraud trends and collaborate with Corporate Security to develop risk mitigation strategies. Create and enforce procedures to minimize risks, ensuring compliance controls are integrated into daily activities
- Process Efficiency - Identify opportunities to enhance the screening process model, mitigating risks associated with onboarding and internal threats. Proactively identify emerging risks and provide solutions for effective mitigation plans
- Oversight - Oversee daily operations, investigative activities, workflow and queue management ensuring efficiency and timely responses
- Organization - Oversee requests from various stakeholders and thoughtfully manage the escalations
- Process optimization - Identify opportunities to enhance screening efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround times
- Reporting & Analysis - Prepare reports for senior and executive management
- Management Responsibilities - Maintain data in the Background Screening manual, applications, shared drives, and mailboxes. Exhibit professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
- Continuous Improvement - Establish and maintain a culture of continuous improvement based on best practices while adhering to confidentiality protocols. Lead process improvements from proposal to implementation, ensuring effective changes. Document procedures and communicate changes through presentations for the leadership team and analysts.
- Compliance - Ensure HR background screening processes comply with federal, state/provincial, and local regulations. Deliver background screening checks in accordance with service standards and CIBC policies.
- Exception Review - Utilize decision-making skills to identify fraudulent or high-risk activities and take timely actions, considering impacts on Fraud Management and CIBC.
