- API Portfolio Vision, Strategy & Roadmap: Define, communicate and maintain the strategic vision for APIs based on business objectives and market trends.
- Guide API Development: Work with API project teams to ensure they meet standards & align with the strategy.
- API Product Requirements Management: Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to understand API needs and translate them into product requirements.
- Oversee the API Lifecycle: Work with stakeholders across the complete API lifecycle, from ideation to deprecation, to develop a well-curated API landscape.
- API Portfolio Management: Manage the portfolio of APIs, ensuring a balance between new development and maintenance of existing APIs.
- API Documentation: Ensure that all APIs are properly documented and that documentation is kept up-to-date.
- API Marketing and Promotion: Promote the use of APIs within the organization and externally, as applicable.
- API Training and Support: Provide training and support to API users and developers.
- API Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest trends and innovations in API technology and incorporate relevant innovations into the API strategy.
- API Vendor Management: Manage relationships with API technology vendors and service providers.
- API Financial Management: Manage the financial aspects of API development and usage, including budgeting and cost control.
- API Risk Management: Identify and manage risks associated with the API estate.
- API Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes for API development and management.
- API User Experience: Ensure that APIs provide a positive user experience, including ease of use and performance.
- API Metrics and Reporting: Develop and report on metrics that measure the success of the API strategy and individual APIs.
Key challenges faced on the role
- Organizational Complexity: Belron is a a global, federated organization; the API Product Owner will need to navigate complex organizational structures and processes. This can make decision-making, communication, and collaboration more challenging.
- Managing Change: With the organization undergoing a high degree of change, the API Product Owner will need to manage the impact of these changes on the API landscape. This could include changes in technology, business processes, or organizational structure.

- Technical Experience: Hands-on experience with the Mulesoft API Management platform, ideally CloudHub.
