Let’s start with the role

At Kaizen, we operate across verticals that represent the connection with customers and our strategy for sustainable growth and seamless entertainment experiences. These verticals include Sportsbook, Gaming, Account & Services and Rewards & Comms, as well as our core technology lines: Platform and International Expansion. Each vertical consists of both Technology and Product teams. The Technology teams also encompass Site Reliability, Infrastructure and Data.

The Technology Manager collaborates closely with the Head of Technology and leads a part of the technology function within the vertical. This role entails ensuring that delivery, performance and quality standards are sustainably met from both a people and product perspective

As a Big Data Technology Manager you will:

  • Oversee the Data Platform team, consisting of approximately 5-10 people, by setting performance goals and ensuring Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) are achieved, while managing and supporting the existing team lead.
  • Lead the Data chapter, comprising approximately 20-30 data and analytics engineers. Manage the Learning & Development budget to introduce new training programs, facilitate participation in major events and meetups for chapter members and drive initiatives to upskill the team.
  • Partner with peers and key stakeholders from different product lines to ensure high standards of delivery, quality and performance, while flagging potential obstacles and implementing process improvements.
  • Ensure constant information sharing between the Data Platform team and other teams across verticals.
  • Develop and maintain best practices for data governance, quality, security and privacy in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Enable scalable, secure and cost-effective data solutions to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies and best practices to ensure the company remains competitive and innovative.
  • Foster a culture of continuous employee growth, ensuring high retention and engagement.
  • Prioritize the team’s needs, identify potential risks and be actively involved in the hiring process.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and career development opportunities for team members.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or related field of study, or equivalent experience;
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in a similar position, having led data / engineering teams;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, negotiation and decision-making;
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide people;
  • Experience in organizing or participating in industry events, meetups and continuous learning activities;
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Outstanding planning and organizational skills.
