The group is seeking a Big Data IoT Architect to lead an Agile Development Team responsible for Telematics Services. The focus of this team is to develop Safety & Video solutions for connected truck fleets as well as for the wider ecosystem. This team will develop new Safety & Video solutions integrating with the global connectivity data platform and different functional systems of the Detroit Connect solution: A Customer Portal, Vehicle Communication Data Hub, Big Data Analytics Engine, and a Subscription Management System.
Additionally, you will engage regularly with the wider Software Engineering group within Daimler Truck Group, fostering cross-team collaboration and alignment across multiple regions. Your leadership will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of innovation, speed, and accountability within the engineering organization.

Position offers a starting salary range of $117,000.00- $150,000.00 USD 

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience​

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Lead, architect, design and develop secure, scalable, high-performance and reliable big data and analytics platform software and services. 
  • Lead and mentor an agile software development team. 
  • Sprint grooming, planning, prioritization, and execution using Scaled Agile.   
  • Understand software engineering best practices/processes and work within designated guidelines. 
  • Drive and coordinate the effort for front-end development and support the team with UX/UI technical directions. 
  • Drive and coordinate the effort for back-end development and support the team with technical directions. 
  • Collaborate and mentor other software engineers for future telematics features and system improvements. 
  • Drive and coordinate the effort for integration with 3rd party data platform and processors. 
  • Think ahead to understand the impacts to other development teams while coordinating testing efforts and validating software release changes. 
  • Lead and mentor others to identify and solve the root cause(s) of complex problems. 
  • Continually learn and take on new challenges. 

Knowledge You Should Bring  

  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related engineering field with 5+ years of progressively responsible practical software development experience.
  • Experience mentoring software engineers 
  • Experience leading DevOps teams 
  • Experience with frontend development and Micro frontend concept (React) 
  • Experience with backend development (Java, Go) 
  • Experience in software development and deployment using containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) 
  • Experience with big data and IoT platforms (Hadoop H-Base and Storm / Flink) 
  • Hands on cloud development, deployment, and operation/ support experience (Azure) 
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) 
  • Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with automated testing (Jenkins) 
  • Strong knowledge of software development processes (SAFe or Agile Methodology) 
  • Experience with agile development processes and tools (Jira, Git etc) 
  • Experience in the integration of 3rd party data platforms 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Masters in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related engineering field, is preferred
