Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Bid Manager  who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pistoia, Italy

Accountabilities

  • Leading bid teams and inputs from a variety of stakeholders across the business and working closely with the Sales Manager
  • Supporting the bid qualification process for new opportunities
  • Implementing creative ideas and initiatives into bids
  • Driving the process of preparation of the commercial and technical aspects of the bid, ensuring all services and deliverables are included in the final price to the customer
  • Managing to the written proposals or supporting documents, both in terms of content and presentation, for internal or customer presentation
  • Ensuring adherence to quality process of bid submission to ensure the good quality of bid submission documents and that they are signed off with appropriate internal authority
  • Managing the bid preparation through the approval process and ensure conformance to company governance processes
  • Tracking risk and managing it throughout the bid process
  • Managing bid budgets for the relevant bids
  • Ensuring timely delivery of technically , commercially  and contractually compliant bids.
  • Ensuring a smooth handover to the Project Management team when a bid has been secured

Competencies

  • German is mandatory, fluent in Italian and English is recommended
  • Proven record in delivering winning, multi-million Euro product or complex services opportunities
  • Ideally has a background in rail industry and experience of bid campaign management from opportunity identification through to project delivery, and will provide valuable input into opportunity qualification, win strategies, commercial discussions and solution design
  • Sound commercial understanding, P&L and risk management skills
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities
  • Solid understanding and implementation of internal governance procedures
  • Ability to develop strong, constructive and focused relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • A high level of competence with Microsoft Office Suite, excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills

Education / Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
