About the Role

We are recruiting an experienced BI Developer to work within the BI and Analytics product team.  The BI and Analytics product team are responsible for enabling management decision making via insights from our data.


This role is for an experienced BI Developer who excels at turning raw data into information and insight, leading to optimal business decisions. You will be responsible for the delivery of BI apps, data modeling and data analysis along specific business cases. You will build the reports and tools to foster a data orientated culture.


We are seeking candidates with 4+ years’ experience in BI development and BI tools. The successful candidate must possess exceptional communication skills, solid technical skills, creative problem-solving skills and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and analytical rigor.


The position is location agnostic. (Lagos, Nigeria/ Nairobi, Kenya/ Johannesburg, South Africa)


 Technology skills:


  • BI and Analytics: Qlik Sense another BI tool is a plus
  • Languages: SQL, Python
  • Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle or equivalent
  • Big Data and Cloud: AWS cloud, familiar with medallion architecture.

Duties and Responsibilities:


BI Delivery and Analysis (70 %)

  • Report and apps development in Qlik Sense and NPrinting,
  • Support the growth of BI tool and usage, manage users and reload reliability.
  • Deliver reports to internal and external stakeholders and track accuracy and reliability of reports.
  • Troubleshooting the reporting environment and reports.
  • Guard data quality and report on exceptions.
  • Democratizing access to data and promoting BI apps.

Exploratory Data Analysis (20%)

  • Analyze trends and build specific business cases to impact business decisions.
  • Support the cross-function data analyst with relevant insights, deliver and communicate analysis to top management.
  • Validate and test datasets.

Data mapping and process (10%)

  • Define metrics that are independent, holistic, accurate, encourage the right behaviors, and that are aligned with company strategy and objectives.
  • Understand and identify the data generated through company operations and activities and where/how that data is stored and how they can be mapped to KPIs.
  • Standardize and simplify data model.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • 4+ years’ experience in BI development.
  • 3 years university degreewith a proven background in math, science, finance, engineering, or statistics and deep business insight and financial sense are required; advanced degrees and/or MBA are a plus.
  • High-level experience in methodologies and processes for managing large-scale databases.
  • Experience in engaging with individuals at executive levels.
  • Be willing to learn and do whatever is needed to help us accomplish our goals.
