Job Summary:

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day administration of employee benefit plans for South Central Regional Medical Center, Magee General Hospital, and partner hospitals as assigned. This position assists with benefit enrollment, employee benefit inquiries, carrier and third-party administrator coordination, insurance billing, benefit communications, records maintenance, and related Human Resources processes. The Benefits Specialist works closely with employees, managers, insurance carriers, retirement plan representatives, third-party administrators, physicians, hospitals, and beneficiaries to ensure accurate and timely benefit administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Strong organizational and communication skills; Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information; Proficiency with computers and related software; Ability to provide excellent customer service and respond to employee inquiries in a professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field; Previous experience administering employee benefits; Experience working with insurance carriers, retirement plans, or Human Resources systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Administer assigned employee benefit processes; Assist employees with benefit enrollment and changes; Respond to routine employee benefit inquiries; Coordinate with insurance carriers, retirement plan representatives, and third-party administrators; Maintain accurate benefit records and documentation; Process insurance billing and related benefit transactions; Support benefit communication and educational activities; Coordinate benefit administration for affiliated hospitals as assigned; Monitor and maintain compliance with benefit plan requirements and organizational policies; Resolve routine benefit administration issues and escalate complex matters appropriately; Assist with Human Resources projects and related administrative functions; Maintain confidentiality of employee information; Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and work at a computer for extended periods; Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically; Ability to perform routine office functions and handle filing, documentation, and record maintenance activities.
