Job Summary: 

Catawba Two Kings Casino is seeking a Benefits Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of our employee benefits program, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and wellness plans. This role ensures employees understand and utilize their benefits effectively and serves as a liaison between employee’s insurance providers, and third-party administrators.


Responsibilities:

  • Administer and coordinate all employee benefit programs, including enrollment, changes, 

and terminations.

• Serve as the main point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries, claims resolution, plan provisions, and other benefit-related matters. 
• Conduct benefits orientations and open enrollment meetings.  
• Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations (e.g., HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, ERISA). 
• Maintain accurate employee benefits records and prepare reports as needed. 
• Collaborate with insurance carriers and brokers to resolve employe issues and escalate complex claims when necessary.  
• Assist in the annual benefits renewal process and help evaluate and recommend new benefits programs or changes.  
• Support audits related to benefits programs and ensure proper documentation is maintained. 
• Assist with leave of absence administration, including FMLA and disability programs.  
• Perform other duties as assigned 


Qualifications

Qualifications: 
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field, required.  A combination of education and experience may substitute for the college degree.  
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in benefits administration, required.  
• Professional certification (e.g., CEBS, PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus. 
• Strong knowledge of employee benefits, laws and regulations, required. 
• Proficient in HRIS and benefits management systems.  

  • High attention to detail and confidentiality.  

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Catawba Gaming License as required by tribal 
and state authorities.  
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.

• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.  
• Experience working with a diverse employee population.  
• Knowledge of wellness program implementation and promotion.  
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.  
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, using the English language. 
• Ability to work an alternate schedule as needed, to include nights, weekends and holidays.  
• Ability to work in a loud fast-paced environment (may occasionally be exposed to second
hand cigarette smoke). 

Physical Requirements  
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands 
and arms; bend to open/use lower drawers or cabinetry; to talk, hear, and see. Prolonged periods of 
sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; 
climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 
up to 30 pounds.

Skills Required
