The Benefits Realization Manager is responsible for ensuring Digital, AI, business transformation, and process improvement investments deliver the value they were expected to achieve.

This role leads the firm's benefits realization capability, working with business leaders, product teams, portfolio teams, and transformation leaders to define value before work begins, establish success measures and benefit ownership, and validate that expected outcomes are achieved after implementation.

Rather than focusing solely on project delivery, the Benefits Realization Manager focuses on business outcomes. The role creates the frameworks, governance, reporting, and accountability needed to connect investments to measurable operational, financial, workforce, client, and strategic benefits.

The Manager serves as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders on value realization, adoption, transformation outcomes, and investment effectiveness while leading a team responsible for value measurement and benefits governance across the portfolio. This role is aligned and collaborates with the finance, digital effectiveness, digital portfolio and business strategy teams to ensure their goals and capabilities align with the benefits realization frameworks.

Essential Duties

Benefits Strategy, Value Definition & Measurement (30%)

  • Establish enterprise standards, methodologies, and governance for benefits realization and value management.
  • Partner with business stakeholders during intake, discovery, and business case development to define expected outcomes and value targets.
  • Develop measurable benefit metrics, baselines, benefit dependency maps, and realization plans.
  • Ensure business ownership and accountability are established for all significant benefits.
  • Define how value will be measured before investments are approved.

Business Case & Value Assessment (15%)

  • Partner with sponsors and portfolio leaders to evaluate business cases and value assumptions.
  • Validate forecasted benefits, financial impacts, productivity opportunities, and strategic outcomes.
  • Support governance and investment review processes with value-driven analyses and recommendations.
  • Improve organizational rigor around value assessment, prioritization, and investment decisions.

Benefits Realization & Outcome Tracking (20%)

  • Maintain portfolio-level benefit tracking and realization reporting.
  • Monitor actual performance against approved business cases and expected outcomes.
  • Identify value realization risks, adoption challenges, and areas of value leakage.
  • Recommend corrective actions that improve realization performance.

Adoption & Transformation Outcomes (15%)

  • Partner with Change Management and Process Transformation teams to ensure adoption efforts translate into measurable business outcomes.
  • Evaluate adoption, utilization, behavioral change, process improvement, and stakeholder experience metrics.
  • Help business leaders understand the difference between successful deployment and successful realization of value.
  • Promote outcome-focused accountability across transformation initiatives.

Executive Reporting & Governance (10%)

  • Deliver executive dashboards, scorecards, portfolio reporting, and value realization insights.
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership, governance committees, and investment review forums.
  • Communicate realized value, emerging risks, and opportunities to improve portfolio outcomes.

Team Leadership & Capability Development (10%)

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of value realization professionals.
  • Establish repeatable tools, templates, and operating practices.
  • Drive maturity of the firm's benefits realization discipline and promote a culture of value accountability.

Success Measures

  • Benefits and value metrics defined before investment approval.
  • Clear accountability for benefit ownership across business initiatives.
  • Increased realization of forecasted business benefits.
  • Reduction of value leakage across Digital and AI investments.
  • Improved transparency into portfolio outcomes and investment effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Analytics, MIS, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience considered.
  • 5-7 years of experience in benefits realization, business transformation, portfolio management, value management, business analytics, technology strategy, consulting, transformation, data analytics, or related disciplines.
  • Experience developing business cases, investment analyses, and value realization plans, including ROI, TCO, NPV, payback period, productivity, and operational performance measures.
  • Demonstrated ability to define KPIs/OKR’s, establish baselines, measure outcomes, and validate realization of expected business benefits.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and executive recommendations.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders, drive accountability, and lead cross-functional initiatives in complex organizations.
  • Strong communication and executive presentation skills with experience presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Digital, AI, Business Transformation, Process Improvement, Enterprise PMO, Technology Financial Management (TBM), or Management Consulting functions.
  • Experience establishing benefits realization frameworks, governance processes, dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting.
  • Experience measuring adoption, utilization, behavioral change, and business outcomes associated with transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Excel, Python, or similar analytics and reporting platforms.
  • ACMP, PMP, TBM, Lean Six Sigma, Prosci, or related professional certification.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $111,200 - $190,300

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
