The Benchmarking Engineer is responsible for evaluating and comparing the performance of Harman products against best-in-class industry competitors. The primary focus is on assessing and analyzing the product functionality, costs and key features to determine the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of the product under evaluation.
Your Team
This position will report to the Product Value Analytics & Benchmarking lead and will be an individual contributor role with no direct or indirect reports.
What You Will Do
- Define and drive the HARMAN “best practice” product reference including BOM, BOL, BOP, COPQ, Carbon for all the Harman Automotive products across all SBUs
- Define and lead development of product benchmarking methods supported by reliable and validated internal/external data
- Build benchmarking database for advanced technology products such as: Digital Cockpit, Connectivity modules, Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
- Directly Contribute to cost savings ideation workshops during the Value management ideation phase to establish reference improvement targets
- Capability to support VM teams during WS and able to drive assigned tasks to completion
- Develop, align and execute divisional wide strategy to assemble and enable highly effective cross functional teams (incl Procurement/Engineering/Manufacturing/Account Management...) which create overarching profitability, sustainability strategies and deliver both commercial & technical measures.
- Develop close internal collaboration with BCA, SBU engineering and external technical relationships with suppliers to identify best value solutions, including emerging technologies
- Analyze competitor product benchmark reports/results and analyze best cost engineering output to establish comprehensive product benchmarking assessment
- Support development of internal Harman product analysis database
- Creating benchmarking in-house tools and validating 3rd party tools, databases
What You Need
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Electronics or Mechanical preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Product Value Analysis/ Cost Engineering / Value Management / Procurement or Manufacturing / Engineering in the Automotive industry
- Minimum 10+ years experience with scientifical expertise either in Semiconductor or Electrical devices as it’s related to chip, device, modem, memory device
- Proven hands-on experience in one of the advanced technology automotive or consumer electronics products such as, Digital Cockpit, Connectivity ADAS, Audio systems & Amplifiers
- Minimum 5 years of experience with ability to lead diverse global teams to improve profitability, growth, innovation, and time to market commitments
- Proven technical leadership with demonstrated ability to lead and review cost engineering analysis
- Demonstrated experience in technology benchmarking of new and emerging technologies.
- Proven track record of outstanding engaging skills in diverse, cross functional teams including executive stakeholders to embrace continuous improvement in a highly competitive environment.
- Strong leadership skills with strategic thinking and track record of driving change orientations
- Exceptional engaging skills in diverse, cross functional teams including Procurement & Engineering leadership to embrace continuous improvement in a highly competitive environment.
- Fluency in English.
