This is a remote position.
We are seeking an experienced Benchling Technical Analyst to support the Protein Engineering and Microbial Infrastructure (PEMI) program. The consultant will configure, document, test, integrate, deploy, and support Benchling solutions across scientific and laboratory workflows.
The role requires hands-on Benchling configuration experience combined with strong technical analysis and integration capabilities. You will collaborate with scientists, business stakeholders, product teams, internal subject-matter experts, and Benchling Professional Services.
- Configure Benchling applications and scientific workflows according to business requirements.
- Translate scientific processes, user needs, and business requirements into system configurations and technical workflows.
- Collaborate with Benchling Professional Services, scientists, product teams, internal SMEs, and enterprise technology teams.
- Gather, analyze, clarify, and document functional and technical requirements.
- Convert user requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable technical solutions.
- Analyze and document data flows between Benchling and connected enterprise systems.
- Create data mappings, interface specifications, configuration documentation, workflow definitions, and solution designs.
- Support integrations using the Benchling Developer Platform, including Public APIs and the Events Framework.
- Support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect analysis, and resolution.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, configurations, technical designs, and test scenarios.
- Support solution deployment, release activities, hypercare, operational transition, and post-implementation support.
- Participate in knowledge-transfer activities with Benchling Professional Services to establish a sustainable long-term support model.
- Prepare training materials, user guides, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with user onboarding and adoption of new Benchling workflows.
- Work within an Agile delivery environment and maintain project documentation in Jira and Confluence.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a Technical Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Application Analyst, or in a comparable position.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience configuring scientific workflows within Benchling.
- Practical knowledge of relevant Benchling capabilities, such as Registry, Inventory, Notebook, or Workflows.
- Hands-on experience with the Benchling Developer Platform, including:
- Benchling Public APIs
- Benchling Events Framework
- Enterprise integration patterns
- Benchling Public APIs
- Experience supporting SaaS platform implementations.
- Experience gathering requirements and converting them into functional configurations and technical designs.
- Experience creating data mappings and interface specifications.
- Ability to implement technical designs as scalable, robust, and maintainable solutions.
- Experience documenting application configurations, workflows, interfaces, data flows, and solution designs.
- Experience supporting SIT, UAT, defect resolution, deployment, and hypercare.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strong communication, documentation, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently within a globally distributed and cross-functional team.
- Experience with ELN, LIMS, SDMS, or other scientific informatics platforms.
- Understanding of biotechnology, protein engineering, microbial research, laboratory operations, or pharmaceutical R&D processes.
- Experience integrating Benchling with laboratory, scientific, and enterprise systems.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, authentication methods, and event-driven integrations.
- Experience working in regulated or validated environments, including GxP.
- Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life-sciences organizations.
- Familiarity with platforms such as Dotmatics, IDBS E-WorkBook, Signals Notebook, LabVantage, LabWare, STARLIMS, or similar scientific applications.
