Job Overview
The Harbinger battery team is looking to add a battery test engineer to characterize battery pack electrical and thermal performance. This key team member will take ownership of the validation of the Auxiliary Power System (APS) product. They will work closely with design engineers, quality engineers, and manufacturing engineers to ensure design changes are thoroughly tested before being released to production. The test engineer will be responsible for writing procedures, developing test software, purchasing test equipment, and building test stations capable of defining the limits of our battery pack.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with other battery test engineers, design engineers, BMS engineers, and system engineers to characterize and validate battery and system behavior.
- Develop test software for executing and automating test cases using LabVIEW and/or CANalyzer.
- Participate in the development of BMS software to ensure performance targets are met. Provide data to defend or refute change proposals.
- Specify requirements for Design Validation Plan (DVP) test procedures, including instrumentation, data acquisition, and post processing methods.
- Author test cases to confirm performance with respect to defined requirements.
- Document test results well and support issue resolution.
- Prioritize safety and organization in the lab.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Previous hands-on experience in a lab is required. The candidate should be comfortable working around high-voltage and using hand tools, fabricating wiring projects, and debugging test setups.
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation, including thermocouples, pressure transducers, shunts, and oscilloscopes. Ability to use these sensors to obtain the required data based on component design requirement.
- Working knowledge of batteries, both AC and DC fundamentals, and power conversion.
- Experience with coding languages and applications for data analysis, such as Python or Matlab.
- Good technical writing skills for documenting test reports.
