As member of the Systems Engineering team in Optasia, your primary objective is to ensure the resilience, integrity, and recoverability of the organization’s data and systems by leading the Backup and Disaster Recovery function with technical excellence and operational discipline.
What you will do
- Lead the Backup and Disaster Recovery team and provide technical and operational direction.
- Design, implement, and maintain backup, retention, and disaster recovery policies across all environments.
- Manage configuration, operations & maintenance (O&M), and incident handling for backup and DR systems.
- Oversee and optimize backup and restore processes for Veeam, Barman, and NiFi environments.
- Coordinate DR operations using VMware vRealize Automation (VRA) and related VMware tools.
- Conduct and document regular backup and DR tests, ensuring data integrity and recovery readiness.
- Develop metrics, dashboards, and reports to monitor backup success rates, storage utilization, and SLA compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Infrastructure, Application, and Security) to align backup and DR strategies with business needs.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory, compliance, and resilience requirements.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of reliability and continuous improvement.
What you will bring
- 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 2 years in backup or disaster recovery leadership.
- Strong expertise in Veeam, Barman, and NiFi backup technologies.
- Hands-on experience with VMware-based DR solutions (VRA, vCenter, SRM, or similar).
- In-depth understanding of backup strategies, retention policies, RPO/RTO, and data lifecycle management.
- Proven experience in incident handling, O&M processes, and cross-team coordination.
- Proven experience in managing a team.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, or similar).
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
