Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Backup & Storage Engineer with hands-on experience in IBM SAN Storage, Veeam Backup, Veritas NetBackup, Data Domain backup appliances, and Tape Library systems. The role involves designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing backup and storage infrastructure to ensure data availability, integrity, and recoverability. Candidates should have strong troubleshooting skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to automate tasks using PowerShell scripting.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in Storage & Backup administration.
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM SAN Storage (configuration, zoning, troubleshooting).
- Proficiency in Veeam Backup & Replication administration and recovery scenarios.
- Working knowledge of Veritas NetBackup (installation, policy configuration, troubleshooting).
- Experience with Dell EMC Data Domain appliances and Tape Library systems.
- Advanced skills in PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting.
- Good understanding of Windows Server administration and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of disaster recovery concepts, RPO/RTO, and data protection best practices.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience with other enterprise backup tools (e.g., Commvault, Rubrik, Cohesity).
- Knowledge of cloud backup/storage integration (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Exposure to automation frameworks (Ansible, Terraform).
- IT certifications such as IBM Storage, Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE), Veritas NetBackup, EMC Data Domain Specialist, Microsoft, or VMware.
Key Responsibilities
Storage Administration
- Manage, monitor, and maintain IBM SAN Storage environments (zoning, provisioning, performance tuning, upgrades).
- Perform storage capacity planning and ensure high availability of storage systems.
- Implement and enforce storage policies, best practices, and data retention strategies.
Backup Infrastructure
- Administer, configure, and maintain Veeam Backup & Replication and Veritas NetBackup solutions.
- Manage Dell EMC Data Domain backup appliances (deduplication, replication, integration with backup software).
- Operate and maintain Tape Library systems (tape rotation, retention management, offsite vaulting).
- Perform regular backup validation, restore tests, and disaster recovery drills.
- Troubleshoot backup failures across disk, deduplication, and tape-based environments.
- Collaborate with system and application teams to design tailored backup/recovery solutions.
Automation & Scripting
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks (backup reporting, health checks, storage monitoring, tape management).
- Implement automation workflows to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitor performance, capacity, and utilization of storage and backup systems.
- Identify opportunities for optimization and implement improvements to ensure stability and efficiency.
- Generate reports and dashboards for storage and backup utilization, trends, and compliance.
Collaboration & Support
- Provide L2/L3 support for storage and backup incidents.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to align with business continuity objectives.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical backup/storage support.
